I've watched for almost 2 hrs on MPT (PBS channel) about the 9/11 Commission hearing and I've become more and more angry at the government's handling of 9/11. I sat in front of our TV with Chuck, just appalled and sicked by how the whole morning of 9/11 went on. So much confusion was going on and you can hear it all in the taped conversations between the airports, FAA officials and the lack of leadership during the crucial time when all these heartless humans (if they're even human) were feasting their way into terrorizing our country. There was no one in the administration that was available to give direct orders as to what to do with the situation. Back & forth they went, pointing fingers, and just being totally clueless and helpless. I could go on and on about this but I won't. Obviously, there was a massive communication breakdown between all agencies that should have been prepared when something iminent happens. Worst thing is, there were supposed to have been signs that this was possible to happen from investigations by various key agencies for at least 10 or more years prior to 2001.
I could remember myself that day, I was taking Chuck to work and my body just went limp when we heard about the news on the radio and I in a few mins. I became hysterical and cried my guts out, wailing and moaning like I knew folks that died that day. For the last 2 yrs, I would make it a point to just go outside our place and put up candles for the day, from the time the first crash to the very last plane that boarded the most courageous people and saved probably thousands more people from being killed.
As I continue to watch the show, it's just becoming more clear that the truth cannot be swept under the rugs and it will eventually come out. At the end of the show, the screen faded to black and these words replaced the empty screen:
"THE PEOPLE WERE NOT WARNED."
My heart grieves for all. May God continue to look upon all of us.
