Thank you to Mary Salazar (LSHchica) for sending me a very good suggestion. She asked it we could have someplace where attendees could go for answers to Frequently Asked Questions.

After checking out the resources available on the MSN Board, I have created a list for FAQs that can be accessed by anyone right here on the Message Board. You just select "Frequently Asked Questions" on the left side of your screen right below "Messages".

If you would like to have a question/answer added to this list, email me at [email protected] or you can add the question to this discussion. The questions and answers will be put on the FAQ list.

Only a few of the Committee can post the questions/answers, so it may take us a couple of days to get the answers ready to post. Please be patient!

Again I think that this is an excellent idea and I have already posted the answer to Mary's question.

Leanna

Does the Crowne Plaza have a shuttle to pick up the event attendees at the Orlando airport like the Embassy Suites did for us in Phoenix for the last event or do we find our own transportation from the airport to the hotel?

Ahoy

No shuttle service from the hotel.  You can either use a taxi or a shuttle service that is provided by Mears Transportation.  You can book the shuttle from mears at www.mearstransportation.com and it runs $27.00 to and from the airport (round trip to get you to the hotel and then from the hotel back to the airport).  They have check in kiosks available on all level 1 airport locations.  You can book online and prepay and they will provide you with a confirmation number.  That was cheaper than going with a taxi.

Joy, thank you so much for the information you sent me, I have already booked my transport to my first hotel from the airport, much cheaper than a taxi, I still have the trolley to go but I am getting there...

I tried bookng the Mears shuttle on line, but that feature doesn't seem to be working at the moment.  I called a representative and they said they were hit by lightning and it messed things up... but I could buy a shuttle ticket when I arrived at the airport.  So I guess that is what I am going to do!  She did say I would have to leave 3 hours ahead of when my flight was due to leave to get back to the airport, so that pretty much means I miss the activities on Sunday...  I didn't have a lot of choices when I booked my airplane tickets that were both affordable and got me home in time to be awake to teach on Monday(!)

Hi All

I missed the sunday stuff the last convention when it was in Tempe.  I didn't make the same mistake this time and I'm flying out on monday.  But last time my sister stayed for closing and was handling anything that was left (like raffle of the lifetime).  So people leaving out on sunday just find a buddy to take care of your sunday stuff.  I'm sure there will be plenty of volunteers.

My big question is that at the tempe convention they had a prize where they would have a figure done up for the winning bidder by Peter.  What did they end up having done?  I've never heard or seen anything on what the winning bidders had Peter do for them.  If a picture and some details could be posted it would be wonderful.

that Mears shuttle is a double-edged sword... it's the cheapest solution if you are travelling alone... but if there are 2 or more of you in your group - or if you find a "buddy" that flies into the airport around the same time and you coordinate its cheaper and more efficient to share a taxi...

The reason is that the Mears shuttle follows a set route so when they pick you up you do not go straight to YOUR hotel --- or on the return trip, you don't get to go straight to the airport, you have several other hotels to stop off at along the way - thats why they say you need to schedule your return trip at least 3 hours before your flight.

so maybe people can post their arrival dates and times and see if some taxi-pooling can be coordinated?

Hi Mike

Thanks for posting the info on the mears transportation.  I have already paid for that but I didn't know it was a milk run to and from the aiport.  I will have plenty of time on monday when I go back since my flight has been changed a couple of times already.  I was going to have a straight flight originally flying out of flint, but now I'm stopping in detroit both to and from.  Only thing that would be good about that is maybe I can take a bump going home from detroit to flint (they usually overbook that one) and get a voucher to get a free flight out of northwest.

Oh how I miss the days of flying into and out of the Bishop International Airport in beautiful Flint, Michigan... NOT!!!   though, that is a mighyt nice new terminal they built there a few years back, eh?

International Airport?  Hah!!!  Do they even still have that puddle jumper flight over to Windsor, Canada that qualified them to be an "international" airport?  We all thought it was so cool when we were kids... "Wow, we got us an international airport -- we can fly to Europe or south America or even Hawaii now!"  Well - we could, only if we could get there through Windsor... and to be honest - we could have driven there faster than flying - LOL

Just teasing - I love Michigan and really miss the people

HI Mike

I love the flint airport.  It's small, easy to get in and out of and still cheap overnight parking.  Metro airport is a nightmare now.  There are 3 terminals in flint.  That airport hasn't changed much.
