I have been thinking that some of us will have fake pirate weapons (daggers, cutlasses, boarding axes, etc.) as part of our pirate costumes. Do you think these will raise suspicion in the airports? And how will you handle packing these items?

just pack them in your checked bags and you should not have a problem... just do NOT try to carry that stuff onto the plane - LOL

maybe we should set up a fund if we need to bail some of us out that forget that rule.... lol

I'm a thinking that it should be everyone for themselves. After all with more scurvey's in the dungeon then the easier it may be to take the PIRATE PRIZE for the most pirate like during Friday game night in Pair-o-dice. I've got everything planned now I just need the prize.

I hate to be a kill-joy...but I would seriously suggest that anything that is knife or sword or pistol shaped be sent on ahead via either parcel post or UPS. I am not sure what the policy or procedures might be when checked luggage goes through their Xray and they see what they believe to be weapons. I do know that they scan checked luggage now.

The hotel will accept packages sent to your name with a hold for arrival on such and such a date.

I always did that with Retired Racer's product and Swap and Sell pieces when I didn't drive. The cost was well worth it for the convenience of safe, INSURED, shipping without baggage handlers snooping , bags going astray and/or being tossed every which way without insurance or the type of packaging that we use when we ship our treasures.

I would much rather trust my valuables to one of the shipping companies who allow me to pack them, and allow me to insure them, than to any of the airlines today.

Can you imagine the scene if you were pulled off of your flight and taken into an iterrigation room and had to explain why you were carrying a fake pistol or a sword? Do you think that going to a party would cause one of the rent-a-cops to quickly say"oops, sorry, let's hold that plane and get you on your way"?

That's exactly what I was picturing, Catie. I'm rethinking if I want to carry a "weapon" or not for the bash.

Hi everyone, we are coming from the UK and we will be packing the fancy dress costumes with the fake dagger & pistol in the same suitcase so if we get pulled we can explain what we are up to. I will also be carrying our schedule as a back up!

If we haven't turned up at the event you know what has happened!! And we all hope you have a great time.
