For the last two weeks, I have been working full time on the programs and the complete list of items in the Live Auction, Raffle of a Lifetime and the Dollar Raffle. They are almost finalized.
As soon as I sign-off on the programs for the printer's to produce them (and I catch up on lost sleep), i'll post lists of the items in the various auctions and raffles. So be patient a little longer. You just don't know how much work so many people do for the event.
As a matter of fact, I'll be at Iris Harbert's home again this weekend with other local club members getting more items prepped for the event. HFS members have met monthly for the last year preparing for the event. It is now weekly meetings since there is still much to do.
They have to make sure that the right items are in the right boxes for the activity where they will be used. They have to check for damage on every piece so that you don't win a broken piece. And they have to put donor cards into every box that was donated by someone other than Harmony Ball Co., Martin Perry, or HOP so that you might consider telling the donors thank you for theur generosity.
Just to give you an idea of scoop, there are over 1,000 items just for the Dollar Raffle, Raffle of a Lifetime, Live Auction and Lucky Dip. You can't imagine how many that swells to when we add the Goodie Bags and event figurines.
Iris and Doug Harbert graciously offered to store the massive amount of items that come in for the event. When the boxes of 400 cookbooks arrived last week, it finished filling one of their garages that is currently housing all of the items received to date for the raffles, goodie bags, prizes, casino materials, decorations and much, much more.
The event pieces will leave the factory on Monday and that is about 30 more boxes due to arrive, but that is not all. We have even more coming with Goodie Bags items from various dealers.
So Doug and Iris have to decide whether to clear the garage with the camper or the one witn one for their cars to make room for more boxes. So what do you think they should do? The car or the camper?
By the way, they have acquired a large motorhome last year that you will see in the parking lot of the hotel. No, they are not sleeping in it. They have a room at the hotel. Instead it is being used as a delivery truck to haul much of the items from their garage(s). That way we can start packing it this weekend with the things we need last, going in first. This is a precision operation being performed down here in Florida.
Food for thought!
