 How to Copy and Paste

Here is a very easy way to transfer information from one place to another without having to retype it.

It is here that the TEXT you want COPIED
ends up.  You first HighLight the TEXT
you want to COPY, then select this icon.
Your TEXT is now here waiting for you.

It is here that the TEXT you COPIED
will come from.  You first place the cursor
(the flashing arrow or crosshairs) where you
want the TEXT to be, then select
this icon.  Your TEXT should now be there.

Here's your steps:

  • The first thing you have to do is highlight the selection you would like to copy.

  • There are two ways to copy a selection. Make sure that your arrow of the mouse is in the highlighted selection.

  • One way is to right click on the selection. A drop down menu will open. You need to click on 'copy'.

  • The other way, using the sortcut, (called that because it is faster) is to use  Ctrl + C.  Hold the Ctrl key down then select the 'C' on your keyboard.  This step can be completed with one hand, while never removing your hand from the mouse you will have copied to your clipboard, your selection, and your other hand with the mouse is already able to move to the location to complete the next step, pasting.

  • Move your arrow of your mouse into the area you wish to paste. There are also two ways to paste.

  • The first way is to select the clipboard on the toolbar. It is located above the box where you type your message. It is located to the right of the Paragraph, Font style, and Font size.

  • The other way again, is to use the keyboard shortcuts. The shortcut for pasting is Ctrl + V.  Hold your Ctrl key down then select the 'V' key, again completed using only one hand, your other hand never has to leave the mouse.  If you are doing multiple copy/paste items this can save you a fair amount of time by the time you are finished.

TIP: The 'C' and the 'V' key are not uppercase.
