Melt the wax you will need to make your candle. Coat the inside of the mold with a thin layer of mold release spray or cooking spray. Cut a piece of wick that extends about 1 inch past the top and the bottom of the mold. Insert the wick in between the two sides of the mold making sure it is centered. Tape up three sides of the mold leaving the bottom side (with the opening where you will pour in the wax), free. Make sure the markers on the mold are lined up and snuggly fit into each other. Your wick should still be centered after you have taped up the mold.
Insert the mold upside down into the stand making sure the sides are held firmly in place. Adjust the vertical portions of the stand if necessary.
Now it is time to pour the wax. Place a funnel in the opening to keep the edges of the mold open while you are pouring the wax. You may want to get someone to hold the funnel and the candle mold stand firmly in place so all you have to do is concentrate on pouring the wax. Scoop up some wax using the metal measuring cup and pour it slowly into the funnel. The more wax you pour through the funnel, the more wax that will harden and clog up your funnel. Keep this in mind or you might end up with a mess and possibly burn yourself. Remove the funnel from the mold and if necessary, unclog the end by pushing out the hardened wax with a thin pointed object so you can continue filling your mold. Before you push the hardened wax out of your funnel, make sure you have emptied out any wax that is still liquid back into your melting pot so you won't burn yourself when you are unclogging the tube at the bottom of the funnel. When you have completely filled the mold with wax, remove the funnel and set it aside. If the mold doesn't stay closed properly on it's own, clamp the open side of the mold wth a large clip to ensure a neat, flat bottom for your candle. Let your candle harden. When the wax has completely hardened it is time to remove the mold from the candle. Remove the tape slowly and carefully from the mold so you don't disturb the wick. Slowly and carefully again, remove one side of the mold from the candle. Then carefully pop the candle out of the remaining side of the mold. After you have freed your candle from the mold you need to re-shape it to resemble the mold. Using one side of a knife, scrape off the excess candle wax. When you have removed all the mold remnants this is what your candle should look like before you proceed any further. Trim the wick at the base of the candle so it is flush with the bottom and the candle will sit flat. Trim the wick at the top of the candle so it is 1/4" from the top. Now you have a finished candle to light and enjoy!
