hey this is Little Big Bear and i wanna talk as a part of the the young Native American Generation>

Introduction:

My name is Jeffery Moran and I am of the Cherokee and Seminole Nations and i am 16 yrs old. This is a gift for you to read, from my heart. The Creator has tols me to write this to my Wakan Circle family. I pray that the Creator will bless with this writing.

Part1

First: Wat is being Native american like as a teen?

Well at school alot of the White kids look at you and think u will scalp them or somthing. But that is not the case our people have been frowned upon since the day the Europeans have arrived. Because of our clothing our beliefs and many more things. But european veiws of us r very wrong. The problem with this is that alot of the young Native Generation does not know this so they believe it. The young generation including myself need to return to our ways. doing the smudge ceremony and facing the four directions. We need to begin learning from our elders. We need to make our native clothing and wear it proudly at PowWows, but not just at Powwows in the white world to. It is our right. We have been hiding from who we are for generations now and it need to stop because sooner or later our grandchildren will know nothing of who they are. But i know my grandchildren will.

Part 2

How do we fix part of this problem?

I believe that teen conferences at every res in the states will help. Conferences about culture, and our peoples history. There are alot of drug and Alcohol conferences and those help but wat about our ways? There are alot of elders to teach us all we got to do is ask. If our people work together we can fix the problems that consist within our peoples lives.

Part 3

How can we make this happen?

We can form a team of people who want to teach our traditions. and we can go to each rez with permission of course and teach the people on the rez. and we can have confrence groups. One on drug and alcohol prevention, one on our culture and one on our history. I believe the creator will bless us if we do this. For me personally i do wanna do this for myself i wanna do it for my people. And the young generation that i am a part of.

Part 4

How did i a 16 yr old kid think of this idea of cultural restoration for the Native American people you and old?

I had a dream that our people where taken away from who they are because no one was there to teach them who they were.

This scares me because i care for my people and want to see our people flourish.
