| The meeting, greeting and charging of your piece begins right with the slection. When selecting a stone be it in the creek bed, on the trail after a hunt, or a piece you have selected on a special outing or vacation, or a selection from a dealer or shop ~ really take time to hold it and really feel it's energy with your hands. Really feel it. How to anoint cleanse and begin care of your Rock Stone or Crystal and Coral as well. After finding the right stone you will now need to 'clear its energy,' and when it's clean, clear and pure you can come to know and feel the vibration of your rock stone or crystal, welcome it to your home, to you, and begin to learn the exchange of energy coming from your piece. In the process of selecting and cleaning your beginning the charging and prepairing the piece as you welcome it into your life. There are a number of ways to prepare stones for magic, empowerment or healing. I burn white sage as I do my rocks, stones and crystals charging and cleaning. You can burn something else if you like, but this is a pure smoke with magickal powers that you can trust. Some other things we burn are mixed and not pure and totally natural they can change the element or charge of what your looking to do at this time. So I would say just use white sage at this point later you may want to charge your pieces with specific smoke or other empowerment spells anointings or rituals. This however is a time for complete purification of your piece. I wash and clean my Rocks Stones Crystals in sea salt and water using a large glass bowl of water. The sea salt purifies and cleanses them. If your starting out with real raw rocks stones or crystals there may be a build up or earth to be removed you may need to let them lay in the water for a few hours or even over night. A toothbrush is a handy cleaning tool for cracks or ridges you can use already purified sand if you need more abrasive agent to scrub with as well to clean with if the piece is right out of the field. I use my bare hands to clean mine as I am begining the process to know them and have them know me. I don't make this a long process in the cleaning however I do like to try to always do my crystals on a full moon and let them dry in a place that they will be touched by the light of the full moon as they dry thus charging them. Some people bury their stones or rocks outside in the ground overnight in a circle blessed area. I don't do this as I am taking them from the earth already, and I live in the city. To me there are just too many other vibrations outside I don't want my rock stone or crystals to pick up overnight.
If the Rock Stone or Crystal is in a ring, necklace or pendant, try wearing it for a few days after cleaning and notice any changes taking place. If your piece is not to be worn, then select it's sacred spot or power position where you can see and feel its energy daily. I have an altar that has rocks stones and crystals around all the other pieces and they seem to fall into their own order in the arrangement. There is a natural balance to the altar and the stones both charge and ground the altar. You will know if you have placed the stone in the right place it will just seem right follow your hereditary knowledge you will know when it's placed in the right position.
Rocks Stones and Crystals are magical and powerful capable of giving us tranquility, clearing our thoughts, healing, grounding and in so many ways transforming our lives. I like to bring a rock from a place or a time and when I hold it it can take me back to that place or that time. Like the stones from the edge of Lake Superior when I went on vacation there and stayed in a log cabin with my Mother. These egg like volcanic stones and geods are able to take me back to that calm moment in time as well as any photograph. I have my Rocks Stones and Crystals and use them as well as for other things as a photo album of my life and travels.
Treat them as you would treat a houseplant. When they are well tended, your Rocks, Stones and Crystals will help you strengthen your spirit, and protect you from harm, lend peace and relax you, help you focus to bring you prosperity, draw forth and charge your natural gifts of magical and psychic powers, gives us serenity, lend healing and empowering, grounding and centering, and the joy of spirit that comes from these living pieces of the Mother Earth on loan to us. They become beautiful allies capable of nourishing our heart and soul and transporting us to other times both in our lifetime and long before.
A note about Coral, Coral is not a stone, but the calciferous remnants of a sea creature. Coral has been used as a protective and magical amulet by cultures throughout the world. Coral has a gentle strength it is especially helpful for regulating menstrual cycles and hormonal balance in women.
Stones have a long history of being used for their healing and curative powers from ancient times, practitioners noted the various pieces each had a different relationship or different character and personality when we wear stones, display them in the house or garden, or use them in ritual, we can access their individual powers. |
