Be comforted that our take on bangers and mash is all the comfort without the sin!

Ingredients

  • 750 g potato(es), peeled and cut into chunks
  • 1 spray low-fat cooking spray
  • 350 g low-fat sausage, pork and beef
  • 1 portion stock cube, (use beef stock cube and make 1/2 pint)
  • 1 tablespoon worcestershire sauce, or soy sauce
  • 2 teaspoon dried mixed herbs
  • 6 tablespoon skimmed milk
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 medium onion(s), red or white, chopped
  • 1 serving pepper, freshly ground, black
  • 2 tablespoon parsley, chopped fresh
  • 2 teaspoon gravy powder, granules

Instructions

  • Cook potatoes in lightly salted boiling water, until tender.

  • Meanwhile, mist a large non-stick frying pan with spray cooking oil. Add sausages and cook gently, turning often, until well-browned.

  • Add onion to frying pan. Cook for 3 - 4 minutes, then add stock, Worcestershire sauce or soy sauce and dried herbs. Heat and simmer gently for 20 minutes. Stir in gravy granules and cook for 2 minutes, until thickened.

  • Drain potatoes. Mash with milk, parsley and seasoning, then beat with a wooden spoon for a few moments. Return to hob and stir over low heat until piping hot. Serve with sausages and gravy.

Chef Tips

  • Maris Piper potatoes are the recommended type for light and fluffy mash.
