THE HOLLYWOOD COOKIE DIET

Celebrity Advocates:
Actress Jennifer Hudson and singer Kelly Clarkson.

How does it work?  Created by Florida doctor Sanford Siegal to test patients for thyroid problems.  The idea is to limit food intake to 800 calories per day, replacing breakfast and lunch with four specially fortified cookies.  If you didn't lose weight aftr 21 days you were deemed to have an under-active thyroid.  It has been hi-jacked by dieters and apparently can shjed 5 lbs in only 3 days.
Good for: Sugar junkies.  Rge cookies come in four flavours, including lemon and chocolate chip, so it is a gift for the sweet-toothed.  The contain 150 cals each and are fortified with 13 vitamins and minerals.  They also contain amino acids which supposedly supress the appetite.
Side Effects:  "This diet advocates too few calories to maintain a healthy body" says Fleur Borrelli, nutritional therapist at Nelsons Pharmacy.  "The body goes into starvation mode and may start to burn lean body mass from vital organs such as the heart."   It would play havoc with your metabolism, she adds.  As it's unlikly you would eat five portions of veg and fruit a day, the body would be deprived of natural sources of vitasl mitamins and minerals.  Avoid tea and coffee on this diet, she says, as these are diuretics.

I don't understand why these people would promote any diet that would do more harm than good for the body. I for one don't see how this diet would be any good for anyone. I really don't see this as a diet, but as a quick and easy way to shed a few pounds and than you can have all the joy of gaining it back plus some. I give this diet a two thumbs down...
Have a great day e1
