It’s difficult for me to believe that given the state of our economy - so many people are splurging for movie tickets.
go figure |

Relatedly, Mike Moore will probably put out the "Troy" of documentaries next time with all the money he has made. |

Hope they put the same quality into Spidey 3. |

Spidey 2 is one I'll wait for the video for. The only comic book movie that really thrilled me (aside from Superman in '78) was X-Men and the sequel. I loved those two films!! |

Mad money indeed. I've always wanted the studios to give a number of tickets sold, instead of the money taken in though. Not that these aren't popular movies, but with the high cost of tickets these days I think a truer indication of a films appeal to the masses would be in the tickets sold number. I paid $6.50 for an afternoon matinee of Spidey2 on monday. I remember paying about a buck and a half to see Jaws, way back when. Even Saving Private Ryan only set me back $4.00. I guess I'm being unrealistic, because tickets sales are prolly harder to keep track of. John |

I agree Happy.....cause if you adjust films or inflation...Titanic would no longer be the box office champ. It would be Gone With The Wind. GWTW has made darn near $200mil during it's initial run and some of the subsequent runs in the 40s and 50s. I'd like to see a tickets sold method too...but it's simply not as impressive as Spider-Man 2 makes $180mil in its opening 5 days!!!!! :) Jim |

I'm stuck waiting for rentals for the same reason.....the baby is only 11 months old and she isn't the type to sit still for too long. My son is almost 12 so at least when it was just the two of us I could take him to some movies. (But, I also like the "pausing to pee" factor with watching them at home! ) |

Oh my gosh what a coincedence you guys brought this subject up. First of all bless you ladies for being so considerate. I did the same when my daughter was a baby. I didn't go to a movie for two years, and after that, if I didn't have a sitter I didn't go. I didn't see all of Spiderman 2 last week when I went because of a lady who not only brought her infant baby but three other kids who all seemed to be under the age of 5. The baby cried literally off and on through the first hour of the movie and the kids whined. She even took the baby out of theater once only to bring it back in and it started up again. Finally a woman in the middle of theater stood up and shouted "Will you please take that baby out of theater!!" And she didn't leave, at least as far as I know, because I then grabbed my daughter who's 11 by the way, and proceeded to go to the manager and get my money back. So I never did finish watching the movie. I guess I'll go again later on it was just getting good. It was the worst movie going experience I ever had because not only did all that happen but a man few seats down from me cell phone rang and he proceeded to talk out lound on the phone for 5 minutes. It was unbelievable and I had just had it!!! It just makes no sense at all, because not only can you keep others from enjoying the movie, but how can you even enjoy yourself. And I don't know if a lot people know it but anytime for whatever reason (even if the movie is really bad) you want to leave before a movie is over half way through most theaters don't mind refunding your money or giving you a pass for another time. |

Wow Ginger....you have a lot more patience than me. I'd have been tempted to physically remove the lady with the baby...and the chucklenut with the cell phone...well, let's just say he'd have been wearing that cell phone in the least comfortable of places. In this day and age of $8-$12 movie tickets and $5 popcorn...I'll be damned if I let someone ruin the experience for me. Good for you going to get your money back. I have a 5 and 6 year old and I have some movie rules...first off...I don't take them to anything but kids movies, which pretty much means only G-rated or cartoons (Shrek 2 was PG). AND, I will not go opening weekend because the place is just too packed with people...and just in case my kids decide to go crazy, I'd like to affect the least amount of people possible. Plus my boys know that if they make a bunch of noise during the movie...not only will we just leave...we won't be back. It's just simple common courtesy. No one will be mad if your baby cries and you get up and leave the theater...but dammit...don't come back in with the crying baby. Bite the bullet and call it a day. Jim |

Good grief - that is some story, Ginger! The stupidity and discourtesy of some people in this world freaks me out! Glad you got your money back - you did the right thing. I don't care how much or how little money I put into my theater going expereince, (I often see matinees at $4 - $5 and don't buy food), it's the principle of the matter. I agree, it is just simple, common courtesy. |
