I love having an opportunity to hear what kind of new music people are listening to and would recommend. So, let's start a thread for it!!! Right now, I'm having a hard time taking Jet's Get Born out of my CD player. Another great disc just out last week is Prince's Musicology. Some great funk. D12's new effort is pretty good hip-hop! So, what would YOU recommend? Jim |

If you like classical, try the Eroica Trio. Their cd, Pasion, feature two great movements by Piazolla (one and four). I find that the biggest turnoff to classical music is that all people hear is the same old stuff. Try dumping Bach and Beethoven and Mozart and Handel and pick up Ravel and Hindemith and Rachmaninoff and Gerswhin and Prokofiev and Liszt. In this field of music, there are many pieces that one can relate to that are never heard on radio. So, to experiment a bit to find out what you like is very good. I was getting into Neil Young's "Be The Rain" during Christmas... I guess I like the old guys (cause I am a younger old guy). I much prefer the band sound with all the members singing as opposed to the front man and just a bunch of jammers. I like songs that are precise with good harmony vocals and lead solos that are worked out note by note. |

Jim, if you like punk rock at all, check out Dropkick Murphys new Cd, called Blackout. Dropkick Murphys are a bunch of Irish boys from Boston playing punk with a twist. They employ bagpipes and fiddles into the music, as well as some good old Irish bar room sing-a-longs. I highly recommend it. John P.S. The title cut is a cover of an old Woody Guthrie tune, totally punked out. You'd swear you were listening to the Clash. |

I have to agree with John, Dropkick Murphy is one of the only CDs my son has that I'll play in the car. They sing really fast and I hardly catch the words but I love the music. Charlie |

I don't know a lot of the new stuff since I'm usually listening to oldies or classic rock. I do have to say that a few years ago my son bought a Hanson cd and I was extremely impressed with these kids. I'd love to get their new cd. They're actually very talented musicians. As for punk, I'm a tried-and-true Ramones fan!! |

Scott....Last summer, I couldn't get Evanescence out of my CD player. They defiantely rock. Amy's voice is amazing. Currently I am listening to Hoobastank's new one(The Reason), and the latest from Matchbox20. Both really good. |

And if you like the Murphies, try the Pogues - an Irish Irish band from the 70s! "Rum, Sodomy and the Lash" is a good album. My 8 year old daughetr loves the Murphies as well - they do lots of big anthemy songs you can bop along to in the car. Other bands you could try (although not necesarily like the Murphies) are the Spazzies - an aussie girl band influenced by the Ramones); Hot Hot Heat, Wolfmother, Block Party; and The Cops. I don't know much about them but I like what they do |
