The spa I work in is very up scale with 7,000 sq ft .. A doctor owns the building and his wife runs the spa and our 2,000 sq ft hair salon....it's in a great area convient location about 4 yrs old.. www.tiberiasspa.com   check it out.....i'm there 2 yrs part time and love the area and  i do very well .. We have several receptionest and house many emplyees   ..many come and go due to owners consantly changing rules and pay (lowering commission and hours) as of now the salon section suffers because we lost hairstylists ..we are down to 1 full timer and 2 part timers..and no assitant.. .. In all the salon has a bad name.. yet we still get new clients .. most when i ask come  because they recived a gift certifcate.. we are a high priced salon and most come the first time because of the gift certifate..but can't aford to on a regular bases.. average pricing in our area  is $25.00 hair cut or lower...we started at..$45.00 hair cut $45.00 single color i charge $65.00 cut $65.00 single color ..i do get many returns..and referals ....because of the lack of haircutters and tring to hire one doesn't work becauses of the bad name .. the salon is up for sale...My question is how can this be turned around.. i love the salon and was asked to take it over ...   .. but at 65 yrs. of age  i don't want this .. will it be possible to make it better with new ownership and management? whats your experience.. by the way if you know any new jersey hairdresser who like to own  this is a great deal  ..all they are asking is rent for the space.. which encludes all furniture and supplies.. turn key operation.. just wish i was 40.. i do it.. although i'm realy 25 traped in this 65 yr olds body..lol thanks Drew

It's a beautiful place! I would be honored to even work there. I do believe it could be changed for the better, but it's going to take a very dedicated and energetic person to take over. Then, with good marketing and word of mouth, in time will change it's reputation for the better. I really wish all of you the best of luck in this, because it's worth it.

Wow,Your place is beautiful.I hope it works out for you.It would be a shame for it to fall apart.Look into ESBI they have the best plan I ever heard of.If I had my own Shop I would put their plan to work in my Salon..Good Luck,Ruth

Hmm, what an opportunity......

The owners need to see to that obviously they need to be more consistant....you wrote that they are changing pay and hours....  that does not go over too well with stylists........

Commission only????

I was bit shocked that you mentioned the prices were higher than average, I felt they were lower than average.....

Thumbs up for having Dry hair cut prices different than regular haircut!!!!  It is more work involved in dry haircutting, and clients should pay higher for it.....

How the botox / medi spa end of it doing???  I know they are totally different than hair salon atmostsphere........  you mentioned the doctor and wife own it........ I think that's the first mistake.........Any salon I have ever worked at or been too, if the owners are not former hairstylists then forget it, the salon does not do that well..........(I am trying to be polite)  Yes, business minded people are needed for success, but hairsalons are different, they need to be flexible and understanding of the needs of clients and hairdressers.........

The place looks beautiful, I heard of it before, can't remember where maybe an advertisment or employment ad.?????

It's a great opportunity, and if I wasn't in school full time at Rutgers, I'd take over in a heart beat :O)

How's the blow-out business there?

Now I can go to sleep, I knew the name was familiar! :O)

How's the blow-out business there? We do well even with just a hand full the salon part still brings in money which will pay for rent and some.. just need the right person to take over .. most new salon will cost over 150,000 to put together here all one has to do is pay the monthly rent ..$5,000 encludes supplies and work furniture ..turn key operation  nothing to buy it's all there..
