I find it distracts my work... some clients get pluged in ..I  was always told never to talk about religion and politics in any business  ... any in put on this subect? I've always noticed, when born agains are in business, they usually close up shop with in a year or two.

All I can say is watch your back. There will be drastic changes in your salon. If you don't fit into their moral charactor profile, gay, goth or whatever, there is a chance you could be foreced out or dismissed.

The gossip will return only it will become more slanderous.

If you do brazilian waxing, it will be taken off the menu.
There is a place for Spirituality but when a place becomes so saturated with it, there will be problems.

Of course then there are born agains who are lovely non judgemental people. Hope the new owners are of that type.

I've been taught that the only safe subjects to talk about in the salon are the weather and hair-but mostly hair lol. If the subject of conversation turns to religion or politics, it should be turned back to hair. Which leads to talk about buying products, which leads to a retail sale, which leads to more money in our pockets, which is why we are are there.

I agree with the not being judgemental comment. If the owners are judgemental, they have no business working with the public. I also hope that's not the case.

Talking about hair and hair products is all there should be talked about. Of course unless the client is someone who has been going to you for a while, then you might talk about kids, husbands/wives work the economy and may brush upon politics. But bring it back always hair and hair products. I'm just going to school but having a waxing license has taught me that and talking to people in other fields in the beauty industry.

But like I said. Born Agains seem to think they have a license to be judgemental, only they don't think they're being judgemental but have a right to say whatever they feel like. But if you criticize them, they'll retort with Judge not lest ye be judged.

Then again, Drew here may have nothing to worry about, there are born agains that are very sincere and non judgemental, only talk about their beliefs if asked and will treat you like family.

Oh crap. I have a couple of clients that wanna save my soul. STUFF IT!!!!

The fastest way to dry the eyes at a funeral is to talk all the born again crap. Sorry but people will tire of that faster than ANYTHING ELSE THAT COULD POSSIBLY HAPPEN !!! and stop coming there.

Just wondering how the owners are going about it exactly while they are affecting your clients?  They shouldn't be interacting with your clientele to begin with, except to maybe announce a promotion / salon issues related to them......like store hours/ closings etc...

I agree, it should be kept to an appropriate time and place, like church!  I think it is rude when any religion tries to convert every person they encounter!  It's oppressive!  I am upset for you.......... hope they tone it down!

Lately, I have to admit, I have been bringing politics up to clients, and I know better, I need to zip it.  I have been very interested in the upcoming election, and have been having a hard time holding back on blurting my strong opinions..........

Well, talking about hair, Palin definitely needs a better hairdo! LOL.........

HI Drew,

Remember Tiffany who I mentioned would be interested in the salon, she told me today that not only did the owners not get back to her, but they somehow "lost" her business plan.  She paid 4,000 dollars for it, and stated that to them that if they are not interested in her, please return the business plan.

I was so upset when she told me this.  I already knew that they "blew her off", but I didn't about the lost business plan and that it financially cost her money......

Any idea how we could help her out?  She is one of the best people I know, and I am upset so many people take advantage of her....

Thank you Drew ,
~Candice

She also told me that she called and called them, they wouldn't get back to her, and she sent her son in to try and retrieve it, but supposedly it was 'lost'

She gave it to the women who was interviewing...............

Candice

Are the old owners still involved at all?  Do you think you you could help at all? PLEAse?????

See that, already they're bringing in other born agains, soon all hair dressers will be, either you'll fit in or leave.  Sure they're nice  but watch your back. And being gay is the ultimate sin in they're eyes.
