How long does the average basic haircut take you? Not a makeover but a refresher of a current style? Im getting really busy around here and im reluctant to book on the half hour. I was wondering if im working too slow. How long would a mans cut take you for instance as opposed to a woman with long layers? Thank you. Donna |

Donna, Just a wash and cut I can do in 15 minutes, sometimes less depending on the cut. I book 1/2 hour slots for any haircut because you never know if they might change their minds and want their hair styled. Now if I am super busy that week, I might just tell a customer to come in 15 min early knowing I will get done sooner. I still like to clean up between customers, so a couple of extra minutes helps. |

It takes me at least 15 mins to do a basic haircut, more depending on how detailed it is. I wouldn't book less then the half hour because I agree with cleaning and sanitizing in between appointments. Better to be safe than sorry. You can also book in between your colors and perms if you want to increase your sales totals. |

What a quick bunch! I take a 20-25 minutes for a man's hair cut, and about the same for a women's, but I still need 45 minutes for a women because of the blow-out and styling. |

hello , i love to cut hair. it's my favorite!! i need at least 30 to 45 minutes for women ( + styling ) and 20- 30minutes for men. ( i'm a perffectionist ) . my clients appreciate me taking my time and getting it right. the only bad thing is, i could be making more money if i can push myself to go a little faster. don't be so hard on yourself, if your comfortable with your speed, than, leave it be. just be patient with yourself if you decide to push to speed up. good luck!!!! , dee dee |

I agree with being comfortable. It used to take me an hour do do a basic haircut. Once I got all the steps down, I was able to increase my speed. But, that should come naturally. Don't force speed, always work at a comfortable pace. Over time, you'll notice a change in your speed. |

A mans cut takes me about 15 minutes and about the same as a womans long layer cut, and most of my staff manage that.
Even so, I allow an hour for a cut, I also do a blowdry. and then texturize the style dry. Everything is relative though, a Cut with a stylist in my salon is $25 and 15 min a cut and dry is $45 and 30 minutes, and a Cut and dry with me is $70 and is 1 hour, I don't particularly rush anymore since I charge almost 3 times the others. |

There are great haircuts and fast hair cuts but in 25 years I have never seen a GREAT fast hair cut. I don't judge a hair cut when it leaves: My judgement comes when it returns whether that is 5 wks or 5 months. If it grew out gracefully; THAT'S A GREAT HAIRCUT !! |

I agree, a balanced haircut that was done well should last 5-6 months.....if it wasn't cut right, it's not going to grow in right! Paying attention to the way hair grows and cutting accordingly is important, not everyone is the same. |
