Hey guys.. I just switched jobs very recently and I have a client comming in that I have been doing for a while.... BUT my new salon of course doesn't use the same products as the one I left. So I'd like to have some opinions on what to use. ( My new salon uses all matrix products... bleach and SoColor.) I have always foiled her all over with Blondor from Wella. And every other time I've done low lights on her using Aztec Shampoo "Ginger Root" as a filler in a foil and then immediately adding 5N and 5v 10 vol on top and folding the foil up. When her bleach reached the lightness I wanted I just pulled all her foils out and washed her. She mostly sat for like 25 minutes to a half hour with some heat. The filler and 5N and 5V left her with a lighter warm tone that we both really liked, and it's time again to put low lights in this week. The ginger root shampoo filler helped out with being able to strategically place the lowlights where ever I wanted and not have to rinse her out and reapply color ( Since I had all over bleach foils in also.) Please help I need some advice, I know with SoColor it's suggested when using a filler that it needs to be rinsed out and then color reapplyed, ( I beleive she needs a filler because she is so light.) I'd like to skip that step if possible and use something that I could just foil in along with her bleach. Sorry this is so long, but i want to make sure everyone understands what I used before! Thanks guys! Jen |

Does the salon provide you with Instacure? It acts as a filler when mixed with your Socolor formula (10 vol). If not, lowlight with Colorsynch adding in a G or WN tone, equal amounts to your formula. The warmth in the color allows you to lowlight without having to fill and rinse out. But you know, I'm confused about the 5V. I'm not familiar with Wella, and V sounds like it's violet. Too cool to be lowlighting with. Maybe I'm wrong, I've never used that product. Lowlighting using warm tones always gave me great results using Matrix products. You might want to formulate a shade lighter when using Colorsynch also, because they run darker. I would love to hear any other suggestions, this one just always worked for me. |

I'll have to check on the Instacure.... V is violet and I only used it because my boss suggested it and really didn't explain why to use it ( She was to much in a hurry) I liked the results and so did the client.. She was blonde all over when she came in and if I'm right it was to cancel out the golden color?? I need a color wheel right in front of me to be sure. But thanks for the advice Star! It's hard having to start all over with different products. Jen |

You're welcome, the theory of canceling out the gold with the violet does make sense. Just for reference, the A (ash), has a violet base, and the AA (double ash) has a blue base in this line. Does your salon have the consultation center and color wheel handy for you to refer to? Also, please do not feel embaressed to ask your manager or co-workers for help on a particular product, they might appreciate that. I for one am flattered and eager to help anyone where I work who asks me for advise. Amy |
