She is a level 4 and your keeping her at level 4?

My first guess is to use the 20V because you still want to open up her cuticle to deposit the color.

I have a very resistant client, and I "pre-soften" her by first applying 30V peroxide on her roots for 10 minutes, and then I rinse it out before I apply her formula, which I use the Schwartkopf 6-00 (for grey coverage) with 6-87 or 6-7, with 20V peroxide and I add the grey drops to her formula too.

Important for covering gray, thin sections, and "dab" or make sure you apply plenty of color on the hair shaft, and not to wipe it, the color needs to sit on there to soak in. I process her longer, by timing 35 minutes, and 5-10 minutes under a warm dryer. Then allow to cool, and wash off warm water. (I think I have all the bases covered....)
