With socolor on 50% or more grey hair always use I always use 20 vol.  Actually I would use the 500 series.   I do find using the processor definately helps it take better, but if using one, make sure you do it for 25 min.  If not using a processor, I would let her sit for 45 minutes.  Always works great for me.
