Wow! It was one of those days! We're in busy tourist season right now, and it seemed everyone was coming in at once. I had to turn down a highlight who had agreed to come back later in the night when I was unable to squeeze her in before she had to go to work earlier in in the day. She showed up a half an hour later than she said she was going to be back, and by then was already dealing with the other people who were already waiting over an hour while the other woman I was working with had to deal with a color that I gave her because I was already doing one, and the woman who was having the color was very indesisive about what she wanted, and then had an alergic reaction to the color because she was taking medication. So, there was more of a holdup when she had to blow her hair out. WHEW! Well, I'm glad I'm here right now, thanks for listening lol.

hi i had some thing very simular happen  athe women first came into my salon my stylist did a consultation  and coloured the clients hair it looked nice  3 weeks later the client phoned up and said it was not what she wanted and that it was to blonde  so we did so lowlights through the top having filling the hair first she said it looked much better. once again she came back saying the colour had faded i asked her what shampoo she had been using to see if the one she was using was stripping the hair only to be told that she only used exspensive products. well by this time i phoned the matrixs hot line to  get some advice they told me to put colour sinc on 8rc to fill and wipe off excess then apply mixing 6 and8g to make about a 7w  in colour sinc well the colour that came out was 6r  the client was not happy so phoned back matrixs and colour tec came in to sort it out this not aday that iwould like to have again

Star, I realize this is an older post you made but I was wondering if all these people with chemical service were all walk-ins?

Yes, they were all walk-ins. They are guarenteed to get in as long as they are signed in before a certain time, which usually is 3 hours before closing. On occation, and I would prefer if they call ahead, because I would rather get them in first and work the haircut clients around them. Please bump up any older posts you see, they are still worth reading, and could always use fresh input.

Star, the reason I asked is these customers know you are working them into your schedule. When you take a look at them and see what is involved; ie: color, foils, etc... make a decision on the spot to book them on a day you have time for their service. I know it means money in or out of your pocket at your discression but why stress yourself out with these people. Haste makes waste... I would book them when you can do it properly allowing time to do a good job without the stress they put you in with wanting it NOW. Many will be happy to go with you this way and respect you also as you are letting them know you are a professional and allowing time for them. But on the other hand I realize the chain you work for doesn't work this way. But you must do what is right for you.
Ahhh, the stress of being a Hairstylist...

I agree, and I do tell people when the best time is for them to come in, and place them on the list. If upper management knew just how often, they would have a fit! However, I don't have a problem with someone walking in wanting a full highlight. I would rather take that $90+ sale on the spot then giving them time to think about it, and possibly making an appointment somewhere else. Enforcing company rules, and getting the client involved with it to me is just wrong. I feel it's better to accomodate the customer than arguing with or in front of them. I of course have no problem turning a chemical down an hour before closing though, or if there are 10 haircuts to get through that night. I guess it's a play by ear thing with me.
