We have an annual Clip for the Cure day on the first Saturday of October every year, for 3 hours. The haircuts are only $10.00, you can blowdry for more if you'd like to donate that too, but you're not supposed to do chemicals. Well, this woman who came in who didn't know what we were doing because this event is hardly publicized, wanted a color. After explaining that we couldn't do it until 4:00, she explained she lives 2 hours away and could not come back (which was 2 hours later). So, she had an idea that she would donate her haircut to Clip for the Cure, and price the color separately. The manager agreed, and the stylist who did it got to have the price of color on her sheet. Does anyone else think this was unfair? Now, I don't mind donating to charities, nor am I against accommodating clients, but I feel that rules are rules and should be applied to everyone. Also, what you would do for one, you should do for the other. I told the manager I didn't think that was very fair, especially since she turned another client down who wanted a color shortly after. So, here I am giving up 3 hours of pay for charity, while someone else is profiting at the same time. At the very least, the price of the color should have been donated if you just wanted to accommodate the client! Am I right or am I being selfish? |

Well, I can definitely see both sides. This is a tough call. You hate to turn any client away, but especially when they live out of town. I deal with that everyday! But as far as donations, the entire service should have been a donation. That should have been the exception. Or, if not a donation, it goes into a 'kitty fund' for the staff to use for their own use. Does that help you out or only confuse you more??? lol |

Thanks, no that doesn't confuse me. That's what I thought too. I can understand wanting to take care of a client, but I would have donated the price of any service I did during the 3 hours. |

we did clip for the cure and I did not have enough staff for it , but we did one hour of haircuts, and we did not do them the same hour, so some of us we donating and some of us were taking care of clients color. Why did all of you do them at the same time? My instructions were to stagger the donated time. |

That was the time we all agreed on along with upper management. Your way would have been the better and fairest way though. |
