I don't know why people think they could just take off on a person when they've had a few bad days. Today, there was this girl who works with me who just threatened to quit and left me to work alone the whole morning and afternoon because she had to work by herself Tuesday night (I would have went in if someone called me), and had to deal with impatient customers. I have had to deal with this myself many times, but I would never leave the shop with a hole in it. I did ask her who used my scissors, because the ring guards felt funny, and it turned out she used them when I was off, and she had to remove one of them and accidently put one inside the other, I found that out after she left, but I did not get mad at her about it, just wondered what was wrong with my scissors. I didn't do anything wrong, so why punish ME because you got upset? Btw, I stayed 3 hours past my shift last night because someone else was by herself, and I felt bad. It's not fair.

Oh my God! Do we work in the same salon??? This has been happening regularly where I work with one girl inparticular. She is 19 or so and I'm so sick of people making the excuse for her that she's "young". That's not just being young. That's being a big weenie jerk! She thinks she has the owner over a barrel cause we can't find anyone who wants a job! She threatens to quit and the owner pee's her pants and says, "No, please don't quit my dear valued employee!" and the big weenie jerk says something like, "Well, I need to leave two hours early today so I can go home and think about it." Then pee pants says, "Okay, doesn't matter that we'll only have two people on the floor tonight if you're not there and they'll have an hour wait time...you just go on and leave two hours early so you can think about it." And THEN, WE'RE SCREWED! And not only do these same people screw you this way, they "borrow" your stuff and don't return it in at least the same condition that they found it. UGH! Looks like you and I have consciences. I wish I could be more like them. Just once in a while. Not all the time. Just be able to be selfish and just not care what anyone else thinks. Just be oblivious about it.

Thats just the thing! She knows we are short handed, and can get away with alot. The manager is the passive type anyway, and doesn't know how to handle these things. Now we wait with baited breath for her decision on whether to leave or stay until Monday. She is around the same age as "pee pants" LOL! A job is a job, and if you they too young to handle it, then maybe they shouldn't be there. I would like to be like them too, not care what happens to anyone or myself, but having bills and a mortgage prevents that. People in charge who know I wouldn't dare leave, don't take my threats seriously anyway. Above all, you're right, I do also have a conscience. Any salon owner should be  appriciative that they are lucky enough to have people like us.
