I used to have trouble foiling, and I bought a video about it, and watched it over and over. It helped me with technique, and knowing placement, but I got better with practice. You really learn by doing. Practice on a mannequin at home. Can you go to your job on your days off to watch? If your salon doesn't offer color classes, it might be a good idea to invest in one. It really makes a difference. My choice in product varies from each client. We use V-lite and Keidicolors. I prefer using Keidicolors (20 vol) on virgin hair, it lifts up to 5 levels, and tones. Colorgraphics is also good for this, so is scruples. If it's darker than a level 6, I use V-lite (or use lightener of your choice), it lifts 7 levels, or they have a color in their hair, and I need alot of lift (using 20-40 vol.). I try to take as much time as I could to analyze the hair, and make a decision based on both what I see in it, and the condition it's in. I found a discussion on Carmelizing here. |
