Clients ask me all the time if I'm planning to open a salon, because I have a large clientel, (or it seems to them). I tell them I'm not, and they're suprised because one would think it has to be the next step in your career. When you consider the price of living these days, overhead, land rent, etc., I would probably end up keeping what I would be making with 60%. The only upside I see to owning is the independance and freedom, but there are other options like booth renting. I can honestly say I'm ok with not owning. I like the "freedom" of being able to come and go as I please, with no contracts or commitments. Most of all, I'm very happy to be able to focus on what I love to do.
