That right, I didn't offer a followup! I guess I haven't had the need to vent in a while (knock on wood). Well, I work for Regis Corp, the Smartstyle division, and since then, we had one girl returning, not the one in the origanal thread, but another one who returned part time. We also have a new stylist who I've worked with before at another company I worked for which closed the salon down after 2 years, she was manager of that salon at the time. And let me tell you, the attitude is way better than anyone I've ever encountered including myself! She said she wants to retire here! You see, this comes down to positive attitude! It's true, the grass is always greener! While some salons offer you better hours and higher %'s, This one you could count on for a steady flow of customers, not to mention social security retirment funds! This setup is exactly what primpsalon has explained in her second example (salary over commission). While it may seem harder to make money, the fact is that you could, if you are willing to do the work, and EARN your 50%. I have explained more about that in one of the thread that Waiyi started. After all, if it were easy it wouldn't be called work right? Commission is always greater, and I have my set schedule, and I have worked at private salons before, and this is the first one I swear, that was the busiest, and I am guaranteed a steady paycheck. While it may be tempting to expand, or open my own shop one day, if I could be guaranteed all my clients will follow me, which I doubt, it just makes more sense to stay at this place for now.
