Hi everyone,
I don't post much, but enjoy reading your tips, advice etc. We have (had) two Shih Tzus, Rascal and Kaylee. In September my mother in law (and one of my best friends!) passed away. She had a 13 yr old Shih Tzu (Patches). We all spent a lot of time together. Patches and our two get along great. Anyway, with my mother in law's passing we have taken in Patches. She has now been with us for 2 months and has adjusted very well. I believe she still misses her "mom" and wonders where she is. So far we have not taken Patches back to her house. We have been having to spend a lot of time over there trying to clear out things to prepare for the sale of the house. It would be nice to have the 3 dogs with us while we are there but I am worried about how Patches will feel. I don't think I could bare it watching her go searching thru the house for her mom. Some times we have her car here parked in front of our house. When Patches sees it, she circles the car trying to look inside. We have taken her riding in the car.
Anyway, my question is: Do you think it is or is not a good idea to take Patches to the house? Does anyone have any history with a dog grieving its owner?
Thanks for your opinion and advice.
Vicki, Rascal, Kaylee and "now" Patches
