Hi Everyone!

I have a one year old Shih Tzu named Kisses, and a few days ago I noticed that she had very swollen nipples and vulva, and was acting very differently.  I was worried that she may be pregnant, and when I saw that she was lactating from her nipples I was convinced that there was something going on.  My Financee and I brought her to the Vet where we were told that she is going through a "false Pregnancy".  I have never heard of this before, but basically what the vet said was that she is going through the whole process expect for giving birth.  She is very uncomfortable and I was wondering if anyone knew of anything that I could do to make her more confortable.. or to stop this process, as crazy as that sounds!!

Thanks!

Awww bless her, Pippa is going thru it now. I have got another Shih tzu who is is her sister Cassie & she has just gave birth to 5 puppies . I took pippa to the vets coz she was off her food, being sick, scrapping & just not well in herself. The vet knew straight away that she was having a fantum pregnancy. She was producing milk & her milk glands was swollen & her nipples was huge. I felt embarraced coz I never gave it a thought *faulse pregnancy*. He has gave her steriods for six days. He gave her........ Galastop oral solution 7ml. It cost £38.00. She has to have it once a day 0.8mls. He said if she has had one faulse pregnancy she is likely to have more. He also said that if I was not going to breed her again then recomended to have her spayed but I will be breeding her again. This was last Friday & she has been on the course now 4 days & is starting to improved.
So you could go back to the vets & ask for this solution for her.
Hope this is a little bit of a help.
