I am sorry it took so long to answer...I use a product I believe the name is Advantage plus... I tried to look but of course I used the last one.  I purchase it from the vet and it also is for ticks.  We live in a golf course community and the gals go to the dog park quite often so I like to cover all the bases at once.  If you ask your vet I am sure they will know the best product for your furkid.  Most vets are open on saturday and once again I apologize for not answering sooner.  We  have had some family issues that needed my attention.

Hi, try "Spot On"... it's very effective.. Use it once a month, day after you bathe your dog.  And do remember to use it regularly. My Dog has just got this Tick Fever and suffering, the blood cell goes way under the average. I regreted not using it regularly... I am so worry about him now

vinegar rinse 1 part to 3 parts water use as final rinse when bathing.....also give garlic tab daily this will also deter fleas and ticks...if you want to use a commercial product the vet has a lot of different ones ....personally i dont use them but each to their own...my dogs are show dogs in coat so keeping my dogs flea free is very inportant and i have never had a problem even mixing with all those other dogs using the vinegar method as i am wary of any chemicals being put in to my dogs....

to ngandkoi: I think I am going to use the vinegar rinse too,I really hate using the chemicals too. Is it white or apple cider vinegar that you use. What shampoo do you use ngandkoi?

to keep fleas away you must also treat the yards the dogs play in. We use lime and then two weeks later , treat the yard again to kill baby fleas when they hatch.

I am using a horse spray my groomer told me about. I even use it on myself. I just spray a mist on her and rub it in. I haven't had no problems with any fleas at all this year. I had more fleas when I was using frontline and we think that frontline caused her bacteria and yeast infection on her skin. But who knows.

She was on an antibiotic for a month, skin infection gone. and stopped using the frontline.

If you want an all natural remedy, use Neem. It comes from a tree in India and can generally be found in health food stores. I use the outdoor spray in-between baths and bathe her with a neem shampoo. It does not have any chemicals, just a plant and it works extremely well.

Hmm yah know  missie has only had one flea and she is 2 1/2 and I don't use any flea treatment. we must be very fortunate. But I will definitely say I would go the more natural way if she ever does.
