I bath Piper once a week. Then my groomer said no, bath every 10 to 12 weeks. She said because frequent bathing depletes the oil from Piper's skin. I don't know about anyone else but when I bath piper usually every 7 to 10 days, she loves it,and feels good after her bath. How often do you bath your shih tzu? |

Hi missy gets bathed every 4 weeks by the groomer. I some times wash her ears in between. The vet told me to be carful too much bathing can dry out their skin over time and cause problems. Sincerely, Denise |

Hello: CJ and Kizzie get professionally bathed and completely groomed every 6 weeks and I bathe them once in between, so they get a bath every 3-4 weeks, unless they get into something smelly, which is quite rare. Joy |

well i have also been told not to bath my dogs once week but with indy beening white if i make it 2 weeks we are doing good...and she goes to the grooomer every 4-6 weeks but no way could i see going that long without a bath...she be a matted mess...lol dakota is black so you dont see much dirt but her face is always dirtly looking fur kinda matted looking so she gets a bath as otfen as indy i think if you use good shampoo and dont over due the bath get them clean and get them out then they will be fine..i cant imagine my dogs going 10 -12 weeks with out a bath...ughhhh...2 weeks is my max and thats a stretch...lol |

you should bathe the dog once a week if in coat and maximum of two weeks if clipped you probably will find if you dilute the shampoo 10 to 1 and the conditioner the same then you will be o.k. use a good dog shampoo not human as the ph is different...also add evening primrose to her daily meal as you should start within the dog ...if your dog gets scruf then use a vinegar rinse every other bath as this will get rid of shampoo residue as it will stay in the coat giving an itchy skin and make the coat look dry and dull after a while as it will build up on the hair.... do not add oil to the coat unless really desperate as this will attract dirt and grit so making the dog dirty and itchy just a good brush through in between shampoos using a bristle brush and a warm water spray never brush a dry coat it will break and cause static ....tease any matts out with a wide tooth comb ..... rose |
