I also don't approve of my work being used to advance any social or political agendas. Modifications Please keep in mind that my paintings/compositions/stories are meticulously planned and thought out. I realize the temptation to use part of the paintings. Feathering the edges of an image and creating animated effects such as moving water are acceptable. I do NOT approve of the creation of "Tubes?or other computer aided methods which involve dissecting portions of my paintings to create an entirely different image. I Whenever you post my (or anyone's) copyrighted images on your site you should include a copyright notice. Please place a copyright notice ON or (© 2003 Tom Sierak) near each image that you use. If you have multiple images grouped together, then "All Images © 2003 om Sierak" will suffice. It is illegal to print, copy, or reproduce real or hardcopy printouts of my paintings in any way. his includes desk top printouts for personal or private enjoyment/use. PREVIEW Please let me know when you have a sample ready for me to view. I look forward to seeing how you present my work. Also, if you're using the Moon & Back graphics, the pages have been modified a bit at my request to reflect copyright & disclaimer information. Please make sure that you use the updated pages Lastly, I ask that you please make sure to use the proper titles of my paintings. I’ve discovered in some instances that people are confused by a set page title that differs from the correct title placed near my painting by the creator of the set(s). You can find all of my paintings with corresponding titles on my own site: www.tomsierak.com PS: If you know of any sites that are offering web hosting services for $ using my images, please let me know | |

-------Original Message------- Date: 7/9/2007 6:37:56 AM Subject: RE: No Link Permission/Samples Included Sue, That’s fine. Again, I appreciate your efforts and desire to share my work with others. From: Susan Sigvaldson [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Sunday, July 08, 2007 6:39 PM To: Tom Sierak Subject: RE: No Link Permission/Samples Included Here are a few samples of how we would use your art without the URL. Please do know that members would have to Google for your website. We do not provide the art, so your site would still be accessed. It's just a matter of getting around MSN's rules. We could put your email address on the tags if you'd like more than ©2003 Tom Sierak on the tags. Please let us know and we will create the permission to read as you've stated I included 2 tags for you to view. I hope you will be pleased. Date: 7/8/2007 5:13:02 PM Subject: RE: No Link Permission Request, Please Sue,
Please send me a sample of how you plan on presenting my image so I can make any suggestions, etc. Thanks, Tom S. From: Susan Sigvaldson [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Sunday, July 08, 2007 5:51 PM To: Tom Sierak Subject: RE: No Link Permission Request, Please Thank-you Tom for your prompt reply. It is much appreciated. I included a tag to show you what we've done with your art previously. What MSN will do is close our little group community if the URL to your site is on any future tags. I understand it is a mess what they are putting the signature tag groups through. Would you allow us to use your art without the link on the tags? We could use your email address instead of the URL if you'd like. MSN really doesn't leave us much choice in how they define nudity and it is crazy considering what can be seen on regular television.<U2:P></U2:P><O:P></O:P> -------Original Message------- Subject: RE: No Link Permission Request, Please <U4:P></U4:P>Are signature tags the same as what you put on the end of the email you sent me? If so, that appears to have the copyright info and my website embedded. I don’t have a problem with that as a last alternative. As far as the “nudity?goes, if MSN considers those images nudity, then I’d like to know who the people are making the decisions there and setting the standards for same.
What would happen if those images were used the original way for making the tags? Would they fine people and throw them in jail for doing so, and label them as sexual predators afterward? Yet when we turn on the TV, all we see and hear is smut, nudity, and profanity day and night! It’s a sad commentary on the hypocritical society we live in, isn’t it? In other words, I’d prefer that my “questionable?images are used the original way with a link to my site. If the penalties are MSN banishment for doing so, which I wouldn’t want happening, then embedding my URL in the signature is the only alternative as long as it’s legible of course. Thanks for your interest in using my work. Sincerely, Tom Sierak Tom Sierak Studio / STS Fine Art www.tomsierak.com
Recently you allowed our MSN group to use your art. We have really enjoyed creating signature tags with your art. One of our managers was going to use a piece of your art to make a tag this week-end and always checks the artist's web site to see if any new art has been added. You must've recently added a piece of art with a nude baby and a boy whose bear rear end is showing. Due to MSN's recent crack down on groups about linking to any such nudity, I write you now asking for a special permission to use your art without the link to your site. Our members would have to Google to find your art, which would still give you the exposure mosts artists appreciate. We would still put a © and Tom Sierak on all tags made. We could include your email address instead of the link if you'd prefer. Your time and consideration is appreciated, | | | | |
