This subject is now hitting my mailbox through the Sara Moon website on
a very regular basis. I would very much appreciate some assistance in
tracking down the source of this rumour as it is causing me a great
deal of frustration.

It was agreed a long time ago that it is OK to use the art of Sara Moon
for Stationery and Tags etc, PROVIDED THAT: The image used does not
exceed 100dpi and is no more than 600 pixels along it greatest length.
The image MUST include the words 'Copyright Sara Moon' and should
include the website address 'www.sara-moon. com', both to be easily
visible.

My best guess is that MSN started this ball rolling some time ago by
alerting their users to their contention that the notice offered on the
Sara Moon website was not valid as it is only a fan site and therefore
has no authority to offer use of the works. This believed notice was
apparently issued a couple of years ago, at least that's when I heard
of it first, BUT no authorised person from MSN or any other official
body has ever challenged me directly for proof of validity. The fact is
of course, that permission was only given on the website once lines of
communication had been opened with Bijan, and the matter agreed.

If I am asked by MSN (or such), I will furnish proof of my authority.
In the meantime, I will say what I have said to so many in recent times
and that is this:

I have authority from Bijan to handle all matters relative to the
marketing of his work world wide. Specifically on copyright, and to
prove beyond doubt that I have some authority here too, I have the
right, though EBAY, to stop any auction at any time, whether the
listing has bids or not, at the click on one button. In fact have had
to do so many times, where sellers use terms such as 'Like Sara Moon',
or I where I know the lister to be selling illegal copies, and so on.
That facility, through the eBay VeRO Program takes a LOT of securing as
you can imagine. This through the non-trading eBay ID: vero4sara-moon,
which conducts continuous searches world wide of all listings using the
words Sara Moon. All are welcome to go and check this ID using the
COMMUNITY tab at the top right of any eBay website world wide. Full
details will follow entering 'vero4sara-moon' in the 'Find A Member'
box. Also see VeRO Program in the eBay Help Files for more information
on the depth of this eBay Intellectual Property Rights and Copyright
Tool.

I believe that the use of Sara Moon art in Signature Tags etc -
provided due credit is given to Sara Moon - helps promote the art
works, helps keeps the work in the public eye and as such helps keeps
the art 'alive'.

If any member is approached by any true AUTHORITY (eg MSN, Yahoo etc)
on this matter I would beg you to direct them to me at john@sara-
moon.com.

With apologies for the necessary length of this reply.

Sincerely,

John.
