Ok question here in Michigan we are going through the typical if you don't like the weather today stick around and it will be different tomorrow. Well we had 70 degree weather last week and then.......RAIN, SLEET AND POSSIBLE SNOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So my question is does the change in weather effect you and if so what do you do to help yourself get through it? I have really bad pain right now and my reynaud's is acting up my feet are turning blue and I am back to dropping things. What am I doing for this, staying on my pain meds regularly and wearing hand and wrist braces. I am also wearing my ankle brace to help with my EDS. I also am trying to keep my joints warm. I also am meditating and praying alot! God has never let me down and I know He will get me through another winter. So let's see if we can help each other out. Post and tell us what you do. God Bless Love and Hugs, Sweet Mary |

Mary, I suffer a lot when the weather has those crazy patterns. I'm feeling horrible now because of it. If I knew what to do, I'd be helping myself and others. I hope someone has some suggestions. It seems no matter what I've tried hasn't helped. Even if I don't go outside at all for several days, I still feel it. Betta Sue |

I notice that when the weather is cold my fibro pain goes up....but have also noticed that when its hot it acts up all over my body. It changes from day to day....I hate that! I think it takes the body extra time to adjust to the weather when you have Fibro....not sure...I'm still learning. I Just moved from Southern California to Maryland and WOW what a shock in weather! I'm sure others have some better advice....lol. |

That's a good question, Mary! I also have reynaud's and suffer from it pretty bad. I can lose all feeling in my hands, feet, legs, even my arms which is pretty scary. I also turn pretty shades of red, blue and purple in the cold, as well. I absolutely hate winter here! Since I walk all over the place and don't drive, dressing properly for the weather is essential! I've even been known to carry a small gel heat pack with me that I can use just so I can tolerate standing at a bus stop long enough for a bus. Most restaurants seem willing to toss it in their microwaves for you, as well, or you can just run it under hot water, too. I usually dress in three layers in the winter, too. People think I'm nuts that I wear everything in layers but I have to or I come close to passing out in the cold weather. I think vitamin-wise the main thing we need is iron which also needs vitamin C in order to be absorbed properly, along with calcium and magnesium. I think the "B" vitamins are also helpful but I have a hard time tolerating the "B" ones...I have no idea why! Anemia also seems to be an issue for me, as well, so that really affects me, so it's important to get enough iron in supplements and in your diet. I hope that helps. Dini |

Just a word of caution. Not all anemia is the result of iron deficencies. I am anemic with normal iron levels. As a result of this diagnosis, I have been through a battery of tests looking for internal bleeding. None found. The first time this condition surfaced, I had a blood tranfusion of 2 units. Now we are in a wait and see mode. Now to the original question. Yes the weather bothers me. The spring and fall are my favorite seasons. I swell when overheated and experience pain when hands and feet get cold. Yesterday was a beautiful fall day and I enjoyed every moment I could outdoors. Today is a wintery day and I have stayed inside. Have to go out tomorrow to get flu shot...........Take care...........Avey |

I have found and had it proven that it is not really the actual weather but the air pressure. If you have or can buy a cheap (but working and reliable) barometer you can actually chart the days. You can find out how much rise or drop will affect you. You can get some that give predictions up to 7 days at a time and once you know how much drop (or raise) affects you, you have a better idea of what is going to happen to you. I know this only addresses the very first question that Sweet asked but I just had to get going :) :) :) |
