You may want to check this out but I got this from another group: ITS OFFICIAL MSN GROUPS WILL CLOSE: Read below ..... (from CF) From: charjonesMS Sent: 10/15/2008 6:34 PM You may have heard rumors that MSN Groups will in closing, I’d like to respond to those here so that our most active users have the information you need to manage your groups effectively. It is true that we are planning to close the MSN Groups service on February 21, 2009 and will offer you the opportunity to move your group to our new partner service, Multiply. We understand the importance of keeping your group together, so we partnered with Multiply to create a migration process that moves your group to their service to preserve your online community and its history. The migration method that Multiply has built for you is still in the beta stage, we plan to open it next week. Once the service is ready we’ll be sending all of our users an email and will post notices within the MSN Groups site with more information, including instructions for beginning the migration process. In the meantime I encourage you to visit http://Multiply.com to get to know the service and see some of the thousands of groups they host already. The natural question to ask in this situation is why we are closing MSN Groups. It is our goal to provide our customers with the most current and user friendly technology available today. We made the difficult decision to close the MSN Groups service as part of an overall investment in updating and re-aligning our online services with Windows Live. In the long term we believe that closing the service is the best way to continue to offer innovative, best of breed services that help you stay in touch with the people you care about. It’s very important to us that you keep the data you created using MSN Groups and that is why we have partnered with Multiply, so you can keep your group going into the future despite the closure of MSN Groups. Between today and February 21, 2009 the MSN Groups service will remain the same as it is now. We will remove the option to add more storage to your group but other features will remain until the service is shut down and you can use it the same way you do today until the date of closure. Watch the site and your email inbox over the next week as we will post updated information there, including a more detailed outline of your options and next steps. Regards, Charlotte Jones, Group Product Manager, Microsoft SAD, ITS CONFIRMED MSN GROUPS WILL BE SHUTTING DOWN, HANDED OVER TO MULTIPLY.COM Will keep you all updated as new info. becomes available |

More info. received about msn groups closing.... Dear User, Thanks to contact Technical Support Windows MSN Groups, my name is Claudia, I must tell you that MSN Groups will be closed and that is why you can have problems. This resource provides information on closing MSN Groups, including all information relating to the closure of MSN Groups: (_http://msngroupsresourcecenter.spaces.live.com). MSN Groups service to close on February 21 2009. Users can still be used until that day, but will no longer have the ability to add additional storage capacity to it.
There was a company with Multiply, a service of Media Group and sharing online, to create a migration process that moves the service to MSN Groups (Multiply), so in that way preserve the online community and the history of the group MSN. A new service, Windows Live groups, will be launched on November 17 2008. Customers have 3 options to move his team to a new service:
1. Automatically move your MSN and its data set to Multiply. This option is free and easy to use: Multiply move the contents of the MSN group and invited members to return to join his group in this new position.
2. Start from scratch in another department. Customers can start from scratch and create your group in a different service. However, we recommend you leave your group will automatically move to Multiply. This will enable the group to an easy transition, and users can continue to enjoy the communities that have created.
3. Start from scratch on Windows Live group. To further expand our exchange and communication services, Windows Live will launch this new service. This seems to be way things are going now-a-days. I visited the Multiply site. Reminds me of MySpace. I am curious to see what happens. If it is simple enough to navigate, I will give it a go...........Avey |

WOW this is big, sadly I hadn't heard it until I got an email :( I am so out of the loop!!!! (in another email I will explain) Well we have several options beyond what MSN has given, we need to decide what we want to do and soon :( Sadly none of our options will be as easy as they are now. We can use our website, www.smilingfibros.net by adding message boards. They will not have the flexibility we all love, pics, fonts, and that kind of stuff. We can try multipy. We can join a different group thing, I have been searching for YEARS to try and get us away from MSN but nothing out there is as pretty and easy as MSN. We need to all agree or at least as many agree as possible with what we do. I would like to have a few people copying our info just incase it doesn't transfer well. Such as Medical ??'s, Medical Info, Family Tree, Hot lines, and much more. Anyone ready to volunter? If you do not know how to do it I can give you a very easy lesson. We just need to make sure we lose nothing. We have been here too long to lose valuabe information!!! (and of course poems, pictures, recipes, and more) Please let me hear from everyone :) I love you :) :) :) |
