I was talking to momma in smn and we have come up with a delema.... I told her I smoke pot for my fibro.... I have less side effects than the pills the dr's give me and it helps with my nasussia and lets me eat when I haven't for a cpl days.... but it is illeagle unless you have a perscription... and good luck in getting a perscrption for that here in saskatchewan canada... so does this make Me a druggie... an addict... I dorve ambulance for 20 yrs... and tryed my hardest to uphold the law... and now I'm breaking it... and even suggesting to other fibro suffers to do the same..... |

Yup Trouble and I talked about this, I also fought hard to teach "Just Say No to Drugs" for my own children and all those I met. Now I take THC, which is the pure chemical in pot. I take it because when all else fails it doesn't. It helps me with just about all my syptoms. But I hate taking it, I feel it is wrong. I know it isn't but I just can't get passed the fact that it is POT! I am also addicted to morphine because nothing else worked. So, am I an addict? I would really love to discuss this. |

Mom - I VOTE NO!!!! An addict is one who
also abuses drugs. I use the chemical you spoke of and also am on morphine
24/7. But I have access to more and to oxy, vicodin, klonopin and more but don't
take what I don't need. If I was an addict, I would, see? You are

I agree a drug addict is someone who abussess drugs..... and sorry.. but after 20 yrs as a paramedic knowing how to reseacher meds and also know first hand through what I have seen and now with being on alot of different pain meds.... ( 3 letter size pages in the last 3 yrs of pain meds I've tryed.. My dr hates me... GRINZZ) ... and n ot being able to function on the pills of them just not touching my pain I even researched pot momma... just like you did ... and from my medical stand point the side effects and benifits are far better with pot.... and just because the phyarmasutical companies are putting pressure on governemnts to keep pot illeagel so they can make thier billions is not going to change that I feel that this is the right med for my medical condition..... so doesn't make me a bad person... and I'll kick anyones butt that says momma is bad cause she likes to be pain free every now and then with a med that actaully works for most of her symtoms.... GRINZZSS... ain't ya glad troubles back momma... Snikers..... |

TROUBLE!! I've missed ya! This is a subject me n spirit talk about lots. If the drugs we're taking makes our quality of life BETTER, then I say take it. (just a mom-nag....check your lungs, trouble lol) For those that say we're addicts, I say, we need water to survive, does that make us addicted to water? food? sleep? I could go on, my my hand hurts. I am so glad we are talking about this because at least for me it is really helping :) I take my meds to get the pain to what I can function with no even to be free of pain. So I guess as long as I keep it that level it is ok. If I start taking them to be pain free and loopy then I think I will be an not ok addict. What do you think? Trouble I am so so happy you are back as well as the others who have come home recently and for the ones who have never left :) This family keeps me going :) |
