I hurt my hip but when I went to my doc he said it's not my hip it's a section of bone behind my hip . He says the section is called a "dead bone" I'll be going to get a bone scan soon . I'd like to know if anyone here knows what my doc can do to fix it . I'm thinking a bone marrow transplant . Please if any of you know about this kind of thing I'd really love to hear from you .

The best person to help you, to answer your questions, is your doctor.  Don't be afraid about what you ask, or about how many questions you may have...write them all done so you don't forget to ask.  We all get afraid about things we don't know...what does this all mean?  Take a deep breath and be strong.

Hello to all
Well I had a bone scan done a couple of weeks ago .The results were good in that my hip is fine , just a pulled muscle .
I got a shock when my doctor went over the bone scan with me . He said " this looks good your hip is fine and the arthritis is tha same , but the arthritis in your hands and wrists is a little worse ." About that time I asked him "what arthritis " ????  It seems my doctor has been treating my arthritis with the fibromyalgia for almost a year . I also found that I've had it since a few years after a motorcycle accident .
I really do not know much about arthritis , if anybody has arthritis and fibro or knows of a good site I'd be very thankful .

I am so glad for the good news :) :) :)  As for the arthritis and fibro??  I have minor arthritis but the fibro meds are more then the pain from the arthritis so I don't think I can help there.  Sorry.

What type of arthritis? From what I have read and been told, the main difference is that arthritis is inflammatory and thus can be progressive if it is not cared for. The pain and physical inconveniences of the arthritis should be more treatable as well.

Just a comment on the other topic in this post....

I think the main trouble with a 'dead bone' would be a matter of strength. The marrow provides a certain amount of support and flexibility to a bone. But while the marrow of the hip bones does produce a lot of the body's blood, it probably wouldn't be life threatening to lose that amount of production.

Just my thoughts. I refer all readers to the medical disclaimer on the site, of course. I'm not a medical professional.
