Hi Sunflower,
I currently use Lyrica and have been taking it for quite some time. I found when I first started it I didn't like the side effects like dizziness but it's quite minimal while you're adjusting to the med. I find it does help with my pain levels but I do notice that the pain is still there but just not as dominant, though. I found that I can only tolerate a low dose, rather than a higher dose all at once, so I stretch out my dosage to maybe twice or three times a day, using one capsule each time.
I also get the same problem with my legs when I wake up in the morning or during the night I get alot of leg stiffness, along with poor circulation. I'm guessing that possibly it's due to what position we sleep in at night and also from staying in the same position, as well, for long periods of time.
I find that placing a small pillow inbetween your knees helps to position your spine better while sleeping, that is if you sleep on your side. I tend to sleep on my right side more, or my left or flat on my back. Lol! I think the size and type of pillow has alot to do with how well you sleep and if you wake up in more or less pain or not, as well. I also get numbness and tingling in my legs, feet, arms and hands, which I'm thinking is related to Reynaud's, along with poor circulation and due to stiffness from not stretching regularily.
As for the concerns about a stroke, I know there are 3 signs that would indicate a stroke which are posted on this message board somewhere. When in doubt, look up the symptoms and have them handy if you're concerned about strokes. It pays to be well informed BEFORE something happens.
