Do demons and the Devil really exist? Let's explore this.
For centuries the religious community had been teaching about demons and the Devil...but has anyone ever physically seen either of these? Has anyone actually seen a "demon" or the "Devil" I don't think so. There have been reported cases of someone having some sort of seizure during religious services and that has been passed off as being "possessed by a demon", but from the medical standpoint it was merely a type of seizure that may have been caused by an imbalance of body chemestry, or a total immersion into the religious matter that caused a temporary short circuit in the brain waves. A seizure being caused by possession...? I don't think so.
So why is it that many people believe that demons and the Devil actually exist? I think part of the problem here is that religious leaders invented demons and the Devil to instill fear and hatered into their followers. The religious communities teach about peace, harmony and tranquility and this is a good thing. But for these to be effective they need something to work against. So...demons and the Devil were invented to achieve this purpose. I do also believe that they were invented to keep people faithful to the religion. Kind of like: "If you stray away from the religion you will be possessed by a demon!" This would cause fear and that person would, in essence, keep the faith.
I, personally, have no problems with people believing in demons, or the Devil. I do, however, think it somewhat childish to believe in something that doesn't exist. It's along the same lines as believing in Santa Claus, or the Tooth Fairy. They don't exist and yet, people (mostly children) believe that they do.
So the question here is: If you believe in demons, or the Devil...do you also believe in Santa Claus and the Tooth Fairy?
