Multiply is more of a social network. It is not group or user friendly. Last year, Wally started a backup group, of 2nd US Cavalry, at Multiply. He ran of space for pictures and music. Some of us, including me, joined Multiply at that time. I am at http://greystarfish1.multiply.com/ ,if anyone wants to send me a "make friends invite." I am using the Blue Slate theme. Click on Customize Site. It is under "Choose a Theme." By your screen name, click on "settings," and then click on "My E-Mail Alerts." I only have "Invitations to be a contact" checked. DO NOT check anything else. You will get emails from friends of your friends, posts at groups, etc. Uncheck the group posts, as well. This will keep your email down. Some forum owners are leaving MSN. Stonewall has a Yahoo! Groups backup, to his MSN Groups. He is moving to Yahoo! Groups. There are some other forum owners, looking at different forums. I will post some information, when I get it. Teresa |

I checked out a group on mulitply and several of us who checked out this group did not like the way multiply is set up, it's more like facebook than anything.
Invisionfree, Proboards, Yuku and aimoo are just a few of the other boards out there that are worth checking out.
Yuku and aimoo are more like what we are use to here. |

Laidbacktoo, If we go to Yahoo! Groups and some other groups, we will lose everything and have to start over. I know that Bonnie is searching for another forum, that can move her group. One of my groups, is starting over at http://respectdiscussion.yuku.com/directory ,if you would like to look at it. Multiply is more of a social network and for blogs, than forums. It is more in line, with My Space. Does anyone have any ideals? Teresa |

Teresa, I am so used to MSN that everything else looks wierd. phpbb looks like it would be easy to navigate. I am looking for suggestions. I thought more people would be giving advice. |

Laidbacktoo, You might want to check out Aimoo at http://www.aimoo.com/ .They will transfer MSN'S Groups data for free. Bonnie is in the process, of moving her MSN Group, to Aimoo. Multiply is more in line with My Space. It is for social networks and blogs. It is not set up for groups. Teresa |

I checked out the aimoo site and it does look rather user friendly Laidback. Why don't we try that site for awhile and see how it flies. What say the rest of you??? |

Laidbacktoo, I agree with Cat. Let's give it a try. Bonnie's subject "Well Folks after a long search....." is at http://groups.msn.com/BonnieBlueToo/general.msnw?action=get_message&mview=0&ID_Message=3554&LastModified=4675698650153040683 .This is Bonnie's post # 1. I started the migration process over to AIMOO. At 3:30 this morning (couldn't sleep) and decided that Aimoo works for this kind of forum. Multiply is already causing problems for me as far as a group goes. Anyway. you will start receiving invites here before long. It is alot easier to navigate. Bear with me while I work out the bugs. Thank GOD we have until Feb to work this all out. Supposedly in 24 hours the site will transfer and I am keeping my fingers crossed it just doesn't disappear. | |
