Windows XP: Going Off the Market?
With Windows Vista's popularity still on the low side, Microsoft is trying anything they can think of to boost their new operating system's sales. Unfortunately, they have found one method that most of us will have a hard time accepting. On June 31, 2008, Microsoft will basically "kill off" their famous operating system of Windows XP, taking it off the market all together.
This fate was expected, since XP was originally released in 2001, but with the push of Vista, the loss will be even harder on Windows users. Windows XP users can still continue to run the operating system for as long as they want, but product support from Microsoft will end on April 14, 2009. That's also when it will become even harder to buy the XP operating system.
So, why would Microsoft remove Windows XP from the market? Well, like most software corporations, Microsoft is out to make a profit, while also providing the newest and most up to date software to their customers. Since Vista is their latest version of Windows, they are trying to make it the most popular operating system on the market. Therefore, they are removing the older versions of Windows from the market to make more room for Vista.
Also, larger enterprises have been slow in transitioning their computer systems from Windows XP to Windows Vista. Microsoft hopes that by removing Windows XP, those larger organizations will finally make the move over to Vista.
For those of you who are looking at buying a new computer and want Windows XP installed on it, you'll want to grab a copy before June 2008. Just giving you a heads up!

Vista better get its act together then. I have vista and it has so many known compatability issues. It has its good features, but my Palm pilot and my nikon camera cannot be installed on the vista. I still have to use an older pc to use those two items. Thanks for the headsup!

Hi Sylvia....

Thanks so much for posting this information.

I am so out of touch with what is going on in the computer world that
I did not  even know Vista was a new program!....   I kept seeing
posts complaining about Vista over the last few weeks/months.. but
had no idea what it referred to.

I love windows xp... can't imagine not having it.    It is not easy for
my brain to learn new things.   It can... it just takes a while for my
brain to record the info and for me to be able to process and use
the new information....   I know when I look at someone elses
computer screen that does not have xp on it... I am so totally lost.

I've been wanting a new computer....  so I'm going to try to see if I
can win the lottery in time to buy one with xp still on it...lol.

You know what I think they are possibly really doing... it's all a ploy to make
people run out in a panic to  buy new computers with xp on... thereby
boosting their profits NOW !....  a scare tactic if I ever heard one.

Nothing makes people buy like crazy than to hear.... "last chance"... "no longer available"... "get it while supplies last!"

Only time will tell....  and I guess I better start sweet talking my brain
and prepare it for having to go through another "learning" phase...

I read somewhere, that they could have just updated XP, but they want to make the money selling Vista instead.
Jeni, i understand that shitty mood of yours. Nothing but problems. Anything good to report? Yes, you are with Nate again. That should be super duper good.
I dont drive far anymore, dont have the money for the gas. This month was expensive with the new car buying. Most of it came from my son. Now i have a car and cant afford the gas. LOl

Yes, Jeni, shopping is always hard for me too. Have to eat before i leave and have to sit down in between. Now they moved the benches from Krogers outside. They do have one inside.

Now i got sidetracked.
