Wiley I don't know if this one is too sweet for you but it is mild. It is better with chicken and pork but it is ok with beef. I make it all of the time. It's easy to make.
When making hamburgers on the pit I use a off the shelf bbq sauce "Stubb's it may be a local thing as it is made in Austin.

Mrs. Ludka’s ` Homemade BBQ Sauce

¼ c. Chopped onion; sautéed
1 tb cooking oil or butter
½ c water
2 tb vinegar
1 tb Worcestershire sauce
¼ c lemon juice
2 tb brown sugar
1 bottle Heinz Chill Sauce
½ ts salt
¼ ts paprika
Sauté onions in cooking oil or butter.  Add remaining
Ingredients; cool until thick
Good with all meats but especially good with chicken or pork.
