History: Her father got into a gambling game with some fellow nobles and lost  to an unknown man who was invited along by a friend. In a state of innebriation her father declared that the man could take any one thing from his house as payment of  the debt. The stranger got him to swear an oath to that effect, which her father agreed to do, and then went on a wander through the house. Ruby was upstairs with her mother when the stranger wandered into the room, and did not react well to his unannounced presence. The stranger grinned and threw her over his shoulder, claiming her as his one thing. Her father could not go back on his word without shaming the family so was forced to let her be taken (much to his wife and Ruby's disgust). The stranger, bolstered by his success and cunning, then promptly lost her in his very next card-game to a slaver, who passed her on to one of his contacts for a quick and profitable sale. She is currently up for bid.
