POULTRY GROWTH PAGE 2 Our schedule picked up at DDR, so I unfortunately missed taking pictures for week 5. Quite a few changes have been happening with our birds as they grow bigger and we had to eventually separate them according the species due to space concerns. 1 MONTH | | | The ducks were still separated so that Daisy's back could continue to heal. TOP LEFT: Bo & Luke Duke TOP RIGHT: Daisy Duke BOTTOM: All of the poults and chicks. These pictures were taken at our yard sale to benefit the bunnies. | We lost Mr. Olon, our Black Spanish Tom due to an unfortunate accident on June 17, but have renamed our Black Spanish hen 'Tami' and our newly discovered White Midget Tom 'Guss' In memory of Mr. Olon (right) 6 WEEKS At this point, we were trying to give the birds more outdoor time. Can anyone identify the breed of chicken? I was told they were Araucana. | Rory and Peeps are facing us. I think Peeps (left) is a Red Star pullet. | The pullets were about 1-2 lb. each, were doing very well, but were getting cramped for space indoors. | The two turkeys have bonded well; Guss (left) looked to be a standard white, but it is hard to tell now since black streaks have shown up on his feathers. Tami (right) is definitely a Black Spanish. | | Poor Daisy was missing Bo and Luke until she is healed. | The boys were missing Daisy, too and would 'talk' to her every time she visited. | 7 WEEKS Daisy was very happy to be back with the boys. | Gus &Tami were growing their adult feathers | The pullets would go to the poultry shed with the 'big girls' next week. | 3 MONTHS A little sample of the birds at 3 months. Bo | Our little bevy with their new friend Cooter | Cooter trying the pool | Both of these poults have fine displays, but I am wondering if 'Tami' might be a 'Tommy'. The pullets are nearly as large as our hens; it will be interesting what color of eggs they will lay in another 3 months. BACK |
