Hi Drez Kabal,

Don't worry about asking questions! We love em lol... I will give a brief description of all the steps if that is ok with you.

Yama  is the first step that deals with moral or ethical standards

Niyama is the second and deals with self discipline

Asana (the postures) is third and develops the discipline and concentration

Pranayama - aka life force (breath) is the fourth that deals with gaining mastery over the respiratory process learning the connection between the breath, the mind and the emotions.

Pratyahara is the fifth and means withdrawal or sensory transcendence. This step allows us to turn our awareness away from the external world and direct our energy inward.

Dharana is the sixth step and prepares us for Dhyana which is meditation or contemplation. Doing Dharana allows us to eliminate outside distractions and start dealing with the internal distractions of the mind itself by slowing the thought process til we think of only one subject or object (i.e. the flame of a candle, a mantra or a flower).

Dhyana is the seventh step which is the uninterrupted flow of concentration - a state of being aware without focus (a bit different from Dharana).

Samadhi is the eighth step and is a state of ecstacy. all the paths of Yoga lead to this one. This one makes us realize that we are one of a whole... such as being one with the Universe. Not just by words but by true knowing. The knowing that EVERYTHING is connected.

I hope this helps you.

I know that these are more than the four you asked for but I hope this is what you were wanting to know.

By the way, I am an Enlightened Master of Vedanta Neti Yoga and also studied Prana :-)

If there is more that you would like to know, please just holler.  If I can't answer your question, someone else will be able to; or, we will look until we find the answer for you!

Bright Blessings,
Rowan

I personally like Pranayama
in Meditation
while being outside in the sun on a clear warm spring summer or fall day, after an hour or hour an a 1/2
opening my eyes and seeing the prana in the air the sparks of light that burst forth and than exploring the rainbows that come forth from each and every spark in the prana itself...

I personal have never study yoga's forms like that but have studied the 5 rites...
& sun moon breathe...

I'm glad rowan that U addressed these steps, which brought back some very cool memories... of which I liked, most enjoyable.

I'll type it in , as an added question & answere next.

1st Stage : - the aim of helping the student of yoga to gain control of their own consciousness & their body. This goal is achieved by means of mental & physical exercises.
Mental exercises include Meditation, Autogenic Training, Concentration, & the continious Mantra or One Incantation that the spirit, the higherself gave in meditation, as the means of a Secret Word.
Physical excercises are breathing exercises & various bodily postures like the Lotus Position, the Full Lotus Position, & the 5 Rites, the Cobra Position, & headstand; thus is Psychosomatic in nature, producing Unity of  the Body & Mind. Which produces the Relaxation of Body & Mind, & brings into play the one thought, no thought consept into play so to speak... of which helps in Semi-Trance Channeling or Full Trance Channeling, helps with psychometry & many other techniques of the Mind & Body.

2nd Stage of Yoga : -  involes the control of the Unconscious Mind. When someone has Mastered the 2nd Stage, they can control & guide, their Visceral Nerves. Masters of the 2nd Stage can do Astonishing things... Like stop pain, stop blood flows, stop breathing for a hell of a long time... among other things... even bend spoons of which I personally never did bending the spoon thingy, just couldn't get that concept down pat... Well I've done other things thou...

3rd Stage of Yoga : - concerned with the Mastery of the Natural Powers. When we combine Magic & Yoga together.

Tibetan Yogis : Combine Magic & Yoga; 3 yrs. of Apprenticeship under a Lama, who is the Master of this Art, the Adept (apprentice) has to be able to produce energy in the form of heat or cold in natural objects; as in heat such as Melting ice by means of mental concentration, or to produce heat & even Flames. As in the Practice of Fire Magic which we worship Fire, or in the case of producing Cold substance making it rain, freezing, producing ice, in the case of Ida & Pingala, Sun & Moon, Heat & Cold, the Raise of warmth for heat on a cold day, or on the hot days producing a coldness to cool yourself down... In Water Magic where we Worship Water...

4th Stage of Yoga : - the person or yogi gains Mastery over the Dark Arts.

Blessed Be...

I like Element Magic, Myself.

Very cool DrezKabal!

I also love watching the sparks of light!! It's one of the best parts of being outside! The feeling it evokes is so calming to me.

Your stages are pretty much in keeping with the steps which is great. It all goes hand in hand doesn't it!

As for Prana, when you have been with us a while, you will find that I always tell everyone to remember to breathe when they are in need of balance. It is the single most important life sustainer. One can go for weeks without eating, days without water but only minutes without breathing.

I can't wait to get to know you even better hon! I am very glad you have joined us!

Namaste,
Rowan

Yah, it does go hand in hand w/the steps,
For centering, 3 deep breathes slow always, bring us back to the basic's in meditation,

And some say even grounding, but I don't have to worry about the grounding technique, because over the yrs. of  the study of kaballah13 equals the 13 worlds of man/woman in the human form.

Their are heavenily worlds as well as earthly worlds so, I'm always balanced...

I Plan to write it all down in a .pdf book form soon. Would like to publish it online .
I think it would revolutionize Meditation/Kaballah/Magick all @ the same time.

Blessed Be.
