Loneliness
like a piece of driftwood on the sea…
may you never be alone like me.
--Hank Williams
Some wish to play tag
with loneliness.
Some,
for experiments sake,
seek to “discover its
essence.”
Some say
that they have never
been alone and
that they crave
the experience.
Why, exactly, is that?
I have enough
experience to last
me decades. Yet,
I did not crave
nor desire,
and no great urge
resides within
for secret
experimentation...
I telled them kids
to keep them sticks
away from that
tarry bag.
Keep pokin’,
keep proddin’,
keep mussin’,
and you'll get
what's yours
in due time...
Now they all roost
up yar
on lonely
I Telled You So Ridge.
