please do not upload .doc attachments.
because of potential damage caused by viruses,
this type of attachment is generally not opened
& commented upon.

.wav attachments are the safest.

.jpgs are better left for picture albums.

thanks,

susan

Help for Posting by E-Mail

To send an e-mail message to a Message Board from your regular e-mail program:

  1. Open a new message window in the same e-mail account that you have listed in your E-mail Settings for the group.
  2. Type or paste the group's e-mail address in the To box. (The group's e-mail address is listed on the E-mail Settings page and at the top of most other group pages.)
  3. Compose and send your message.

Your message will be posted to the group's message board, as well as delivered to the e-mail inboxes of group members who have chosen that option.

Note

The version of your message that is posted to the group message board will not include attachments.

Tip

Add the e-mail addresses of your groups to the address book in your e-mail program.

To start a new discussion &/or include a file using non-Microsoft browsers or a non-Windows operating system:

For group members who are using a non-Microsoft browser such as Netscape or a non-Windows operating system such as Macintosh:

  1. Make sure that you are on a New Discussion page of the message board that you want to start a discussion on.

To get there: Click Messages or Message Board on the far left. If the Multiple Message Boards page appears, click the name of the message board you want to start a discussion on, and then click New Discussion. (If the page you are currently on has no links on the far left, click Back until you reach a page that does.)

  2. In the Subject box, type a name for your discussion.
  3. To include a file with your message, in the box provided, type the path and name of the file, and then click Attach this file.

    –or–

Click Browse to find the file you want to add. Click the file, and then click Attach this file.

Note: To remove an attachment before posting the message, click the Delete button Delete this attachment. by the attachment's file name.

  4. Type the body of your message. You may use HTML code to format your message. For more information, see The Fellowship of the Ring">Which HTML tags will work in my group?
  5. To post your message, click Send Message.
To add photos to an album using non-Microsoft browsers:

If you are using a non-Microsoft browser such as Netscape or a non-Windows operating system such as Macintosh, you can add photos to an album without the MSN Photo Upload Control.

Managers and members with permission:

  1. Make sure the album you want to add photos to is open.

To get there: Click Pictures on the far left, click show albums if you see that link directly below the page title, and then click the album name. (If the page you are currently on has no links on the far left, click Back until you reach a page that does.)

    –or–

If, on the far left, you see a link to the album you want, click that link.

  2. Click Add Photos.
  3. Type the path where the photo is located, or click Browse and find the photo using your computer's file directory.
  4. Type a title and description for the photo.
  5. Choose a size for your photo, and then click Add Photo.

The album will open, and the new photo will appear in thumbnail view (small preview).

Notes

  • Without a Windows operating system and MSN Explorer or Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.0 or later, you can add only one photo at a time.
  • You cannot change the size of photos after adding them to an album. If you want to change a photo's size, you need to delete the photo from the album, resize it, and then add it again.
