blood is forever but money is thicker
candy is fine but i prefer liquor
if god is clean then the preacher is neater
sugar and wine make the medicine sweeter

never take a second look at me
go ahead and tell me what to be
i will always laugh at your recipe
politics mixed in with some tyranny

brave new world that you made for your children
governed now by fools and a villain
burn it all down and start back again
it will all turn out the same in the end

never give a second thought of me
forget you even heard a word of me
this is all i ever want to be
 i choose substance over therapy

thanks for posting.

so.

what do you mean by:
i choose substance over therapy
what kind of substance?  as in substantial as in content?
or as in drug abuse
i believe the difference between the 2 is vast.

Thank you for your welcome, Susan.

I agree with your opinion that the difference between the two possible meanings of "substance" is vast, and had considered rewriting it to clarify. However, both in my life and in the lives of others I have noticed that many of us try to find something to distract us from the voids in our lives. "Therapy," in this context, refers to fixing the problems in our lives, especially through healthy means. "Substance," on the other hand, can indeed mean substance abuse, as it has on many occasions for me; however, it can also refer to anything that we put into our lives to take attention away from what is wrong with us and our lives. People filling their day with activities that really mean nothing to them, simply to escape the feelings of emptiness that plague them when they stop long enough to take a breath.
