do you know if i am signed in to msn groups with my email address [email protected] if people that are in my contact list can see that i am online, even if i don;t have messenger installed myself? on my new laptop i have to read my mail signing in to hotmail, cannot get it in OE anymore, and then i received an email from someone i hadn't heard of in a long time, and now everytime he is mailing me "are you there" so i am suspecting he can see when i get signed in which i rather would not have but don't know how to change it if you know, please let me know too |

I have you installed on my messenger, but I never see you signed in, so I would have to say no he can't see you. If you have never accepted him as a contact, he is not a contact, even if you did have messenger installed. If you ever did install it, you would probably get a message that asked if you wanted to add him as a contact. If you were to see him as a contact on your messenger (if you had it) you can block him from seeing you online. I have several blocked as seeing me online because I haven't got the concentration to talk to more than one at a time. of course I very seldom have mine as showing online anyway, and I don't usually sign in through the messenger. I usually go to the yahoo messenger to talk to my sister. The next time you are on at the same time as me, I'll go to my email box, and see how you show in there, cause I got a little icon that shows all the contacts from msn messenger, next to thier addys. remind me, OK? I have a windows messenger, and also a windows live messenger. on both messengers, you click on your own name and it will give you the option of showing , or appearing offline. click that. and before you sign in, it should give you the option of appearing offline before you hit the sign in button. That's if you use that to go on to get your emails. I hope I haven't confused you, hang on and I'll sign off mine to see if there is the option for sure, on windows messenger. (there is on windows live messenger). when you are in to the messenger click tools on the messenger click options click privacy put anyone you don't want to see you online, in the blocked section and click the box next to alert me when other people add me to thier contact list, that way you'll know who adds you. I didn't see any options to sign in as not visible though, but there is an option you can click, where it can't stay running in the background. remember there are two different windows messengers I thought there were, but i wasn't sure. when you sign off of it, it should show you as offline, but when you sign back on, it might start back up again. I think that's the running in the background thingy. |

I put mine to online now, do you see me? if you don't maybe you don't have me as one of your contacts. that's probably why he can see you, he has you as one of his and he sees you. and you can't see him. maybe i'm not writing this right..... he has you as a contact, but you don't have him as one. ye sees you, you don't see him |
