The Chinese have always revered Dragons as sacred being, whether they are spiritual or physical. The dragon population was world-wide, and was lessened when Christianity set in, and convinced the government that religion should be a law. Many Christian writings, talk of these 'beast' and refer to them as evil, and devil's work. In all different cultures, the dragons were slain for their treasures, wisdom, and teeth and skin. Eventually, the dragons started to mistrust the people of the earth, and hid under waters and deep in mountains. The only culture that never drew them any harm was in China. Even today, you will find dragons everywhere, and on crests of the royal family. Due to the negative brought to dragons through other pantheon research, dragons are few in numbers else where, especially in the western hemisphere.
However, they still exist and live all over the world. There are lines, called Ley Lines, that show routes the dragons would take from place to place. These can actually be found throughout the world. One of the most noticed are in England, where much research was done to determine these lay lines, and where they go. Some lay lines are thought to be black, where vegetation and animal life cease to exist. The positive ley lines harvest fully, and animals are known to prosper greatly in these areas.
In China, the history of the dragon goes back to the beginning of time, and records were kept for all these years. The extensive writings, and stories of these dragons are fascinating. They even believe that if something goes wrong, even in a work place, whether it be sickness or poor production, they will call in a Feng-Shui Diviner. The diviner uses a special compass, and studies the ley lines, to see what is amiss. They will then calculate what needs to be done. Most of the time a simple garden placed outside and in the work place, with a statue if some sort of dragon, will alleviate such problems. They also have Circular paths, where they are thought to have called to a dragon, and the dragon's energy sits in the middle of them. People go to the middle of these paths, to meditate, ask for guidance, bring health and prosperity, or even just to commune with the dragon.
In my first part of discussing Dragon Magick, I will talk about the Chinese dragons first, as they have more information, and are the more highly respected of the world. They are wonderful creatures, and can help anyone that is pure of heart, and willing to give more than just a thought to them. An individual that shows respect and keeps their faith strong in the draogn realm, can benefit greatly from these beings. They are great teachers, healers, guiders, and friends. They can help in decisions, and give insight to the future, if they think you are trully honest, and trully mean no harm to others. They are, in the most part, gentle creatures, but do have tempers, like people. They have their own individual personalities, as we do, and are very sensitive to ridicule, and disrespect. They are mostly playful, and very curious creatures. They have a great sense of humor, and like to play. If you are fortunate enough to meet your draogn, keep it in high regard, for if they feel you are losing interest or faith, they will not stick around.
