Working with pendulums

I HAVE HAD THE OPPORTUNITY to create many crystal tools over the
last few years. The tool I am most currently working with, and creating
quite a number of, is the pendulum. When I started making them I didn't
know much about their use and I didn't use one very much myself, but I
enjoyed making them and selling them in our store. However, a couple of
days after the 9/11 tragedy, I had a very powerful experience with a
pendulum that I will never forget. The terrorist attacks that happened on
9-11-01 also coincided with the first day of the Lightworker Mt. Shasta
Espavo Conference at Stewart Mineral Springs. Our planes didn't take
off so we drove up to meet the people who were already there waiting for
us. Upon arrival the seminar proceeded much as planned, though several
attendees remained dotted in airports across the country in a pattern
that was very suggestive of a crystal grid.
One of the special activities at the conference was healing for
healers. During this session we all went into meditation in a circle
around the room. Those who required healing could request it while those
who felt like sharing healing could get up and offer healing to other
participants. I held back as the session started and didn't actively
participate in the healing work. I stood in the back of the room doing a
bit of transformational breathing, and I put myself in an altered state
rather quickly. I felt very relaxed and protected and loving. Suddenly
there were voices all around me. All of them were talking at once, but
when I opened my eyes all of the people in the room were very quietly
going about their healing. I felt like the clerk at the desk in the
airport when they announce a flight is cancelled and everyone rushes in to
get another flight. Some of the voices sounded angry, others scared,
others confused. There were questions. "What happened?" " What do I do
now?" "Where is my body?" "I want to go home right NOW!" At first I
thought I was really losing my grip on reality and maybe had breathed in too
much oxygen. I slowed down my breathing and told myself, "You're in a
sacred place where lots of unusual things can happen, so calm down and
pay attention." As I slowed my breathing down even further, I realized
that I was hearing the voices of people who have passed on. I felt
strongly, based on the confusion I was hearing, that many were from the
tower crashes. Plus there appeared to be some who had been hanging around
after death that had followed along to see what all the hoopla was
about.
My inner voice spoke to them. I told them that they were all OK
and that I had been given permission to help them on to the next level.
Then I invited them to enter the love lit hallway that was forming from
my heart chakra. I asked only that no soul linger in or attempt to stay
in my chakra hallway. Then I simply poured out my love to them: simple,
unconditional love. As they began to move through my heart chakra,
which seemed to have grown to the size of a huge doorway, my hand reached
into my pocket for a pendulum I had just made. It began to spin in my
hand, and it seemed to lend a special energy to the process. I moved to
the center of the room and sat down holding the pendulum in front of me,
feeling it spin and spin and spin. It spun faster and harder and higher
until it was frequently hitting my arm as it passed. For a long time I
was lost in my breathing and in the spinning of the pendulum and the
flow of the souls. I loved them all so much I could only express it with
tears.
Moving so much energy when I was not used to it took its toll and
I began to feel tired. Just when I thought I would have to stop I felt
hands on my spine and more hands on my feet. The hands on my spine sent
energy straight and gave me quite a boost. The hands on my feet made me
feel grounded and connected to the Earth. We stayed there together for
6 or 8 minutes while the pendulum continued to swing. As it finally
slowed down and stopped, I felt the flow of souls trickle down to very
few. I heard my inner voice tell the rest that they could continue to pass
until all were through as long as they observed my rule about not
lingering. Then I collapsed into the lap of the person who was behind me and
sobbed. The person behind me holding me up and feeding me energy was
Steve Rother, and his wife Barbara was at my feet. I continued to cry
because of the overwhelming love I was still feeling.
Such a powerful experience, and such a 'woo woo' kind of
experience, was something I thought only happened to other, more spiritual and
more experienced people, so it was quite a surprise that this had
happened to me. It also taught me something new about using a pendulum: it
may be used to discern the movement of energy as well as indicate things
on grids or give yes and no answers. I have been sold on the usefulness
of pendulums ever since.
Many of the people who come into our store are fascinated with
pendulums and how they work. Pendulums have been used for many years as
an indicator of yes and no answers from higher self and other
vibrational realms. I am frequently asked how to make the pendulum "work."
Sometimes people who watch me work with a pendulum will say, "But I saw your
hand moving to make the pendulum go one way or the other, so how can
that be from another source?" Often they are surprised when I tell them
that it is very likely my hand is moving to create the spin or direction
of the pendulum. Of course one can purposely move a pendulum to create
a desired answer. However, in doing so, they would defeat the purpose
of even having a pendulum, which is to help one to get true and clear
information in the moment.
This is how I believe the pendulum works. The person holding the
pendulum grounds and clears himself or herself and then asks a question
of Spirit/higher-self, etc. A signal from Spirit is then transmitted to
the brain to tell the arm which way to move the pendulum. If you really
want clear answers it is very important to be clear and grounded before
using a pendulum so as to avoid interference in answers. The clear
intent to have the TRUTH above all else must be present. It is also good to
know that when you use a pendulum, you get the truth as it is in that
moment. A day or week down the road things can change in such a way that
there could be a change in the pendulum's swing should you ask that
question again. So it is a good idea to go back and check on important
issues on a regular basis to so that you are aware if there is a shift or
change in a given situation. Also, when you first start working with a
pendulum the swings may not be very big. The more you work with your
pendulum the more relaxed you will be and the larger and more defined the
swings will become.
How do you know which is yes and which is no? One way to find out
is by allowing the pendulum to dangle with its chain or cord gently
grasped between the thumb and index finger asking, "What is yes?" Then
wait to see what direction it goes. Next ask, "What is no?" and wait to
see the direction of the swing. You can even choose an indicator for
"maybe." For me, most pendulums will twirl to the right for yes, move
backwards and forwards for no, and twirl to the left for maybe. Anytime I am
using a new pendulum I check to see if it will read the same for me as
the others have, as once in a while I have had one respond differently
than what I am accustomed to.
Another method for determining pendulum swing meaning is to tell
the pendulum which actions equal yes, no and maybe. My friend Bear does
this. He holds the pendulum and swings it one way and says, "This is
yes," swings it another way and says, "This is no," and then twirls it
around and says, "This is maybe." Then he proceeds to use the pendulum to
check information in readings or to do energy work.
Finally, you can make a grid on a paper that shows specific
directions for yes, no and maybe. Then you hold the pendulum over the grid
after you ask the question and see which indicated direction it follows.
Let's say you are doing a reading and you are interpreting a card
and are not absolutely sure about your interpretation. You could
consult your pendulum to ask if your interpretation is correct. If not, you
can then ask yes/no questions that will help you better interpret the
card. The pendulum can also be used to check the overall
validity/accuracy of the entire reading.
When doing healing work you can use the pendulum to check the
condition of a chakra by holding it in front or over the chakra and
watching the direction of the spin. Yes and no answers can clue you to the
clarity of a chakra, and it is possible to clear it by setting the
pendulum to twirling in the desired direction until the clearing is complete.
You can also do something similar to help release and remove spirit
attachments. You can consult the pendulum to see if a client has any
attached entities, find out if it is in their best interest to have them
removed and then call them to the light. You can then set the pendulum to
swing in circles until the clearing of entities is complete.
Another way to use pendulums in healing and energy work is to
create what I call information fans or grids. I make pie wedges that I can
use to indicate things, numbers, colors, percentages, organs requiring
healing, vitamins and minerals required, how often and how much, etc.
The number of fan grids is only limited by your ability to create them.
You can even do them for everyday things like choosing stones to carry,
or what color to wear to work or which food is best for you to eat when
having a meal.
Pendulums can also be helpful in locating things. For me the
pendulum will swing back and forth indicating a direction to move in, and
when I am getting close to the object, it will begin to swing in a
circle. You can do the same thing by holding a pendulum over a map and
following the swings until it circles. Some people have done this to decide
what part of the country they would be most happy and prosperous in.
Anything with a bit of weight that you can hang on a string,
cord, chain, etc. can become a pendulum for you to practice with. Try
taking off your favorite necklace and pendant and using it as a makeshift
pendulum. Hang Great Grandma's old ring from a string. Have fun and be
creative, but have a care. Pendulum use can become addictive.
