Using Bay Leaves for Wishing Spells

So you need to make a wish -
Or you have a whole barrage of wishes that you would like to come true.
But you ask - "Why Bay leaves?"

Bay leaves have been used since time immemorial as symbols of great accomplishment, especially in sports and literature, giving us the crown of leaves in the Olympic games and the term 'poet laureate'.
At the Greek oracle at Delphi clouds of burning bay leaves were inhaled to induce oracular powers of divination.

But what sets the bay leaf - Bay Laurel or Laurus nobilis - apart from other leaves? Why not use a lemon leaf or a geranium leaf? They are far more fragrant. Well, that is actually it - the fragrance!
Smell a bay leaf; it doesn't appear to be that fragrant but the aroma is there - subtle, fresh, sweet and spicy. The aroma comes from what are known as essential oils; oils that are a particular combination of chemicals created in a specific combination only by that particular plant. It is the essential oil of Bay that gives it its power. Essential oils have a vibration particular to each oil, an energy that exudes into the cosmos, making contact with higher spiritual elements of the universe.

The fragrance of Bay is one that releases imagination and inspiration. It is this that allows the poet to bring forth prose and the victor to reach his goals. It encourages confidence, strength of character, protection, and direction. It encourages the gift of foretelling the future, bringing to our assistance guides from the cosmos. It can be used to help us to be forward looking; instead of dwelling on what has happened we can rather consider and meditate upon what is to be. It can create a positive note that enables us to be able to draw upon the powers of the universe, to see and plan ahead, and to bring forth visions of the future and of destiny.

Bay also enhances the gift of creativity. It encourages our thoughts to go beyond the normal mundane activities if the brain. We are all creative to some degree or other , whether we realize it or not, and the delights of this world are due to this amazing spark in the human spirit. Music, art, food, literature: these are things that bring joy to the psyche; imagine what life would be without them!

Creativity is like shaking hands with tomorrow. Its about the art of the possible, the interface between the known and the unknown. The imagination has to soar like an eagle, high above the mundane of life, to usher creativity into being, to drag it from the hidden depths of the mind. Creativity can be awfully satisfying but it takes confidence and self-belief, especially when walking a path that no feet have walked before. With this concept of creativity in mind, looking about you now you will probably notice plenty of creative things all around, even some that you may have had a hand in the making of. However many of us do not see ourselves as creative beings; some seem to be better able to access the parts of the brain that facilitate the flow of ideas. It is those who have the ability to go beyond concentration, beyond focus, and tap into the intuition.

The essential oil of Bay is able to enhance the intuition, opening the channels of communication both with the higher self and with higher spiritual elements of the universe.

The energy of Bay - creative, protective and preventative - is energized by the sun, the element of Fire. It withholds unwanted influences upon the spirit  and clears confusion when the future seems bleak, when dreams disturb the night, and worry suffocates our waking hours. Its energy is carried into the cosmos by the simplest of things - by the element of Air - as it is vaporized and carried into the universe. In using a Bay leaf for the transportation of wishes we are also incorporating the elements of Water and Earth into our spell - Earth from the physical matter of the leaf, and no matter how dry the leaf, it still will have the essence of Water bound to it.

Wishing Spells Using Bay Leaves or Bay Essential Oil.

The simplest method of using a Bay leaf for a wishing spell is simply to burn it.
To bind your wish with the energies of the leaf, write your wish upon it with a soft graphite pencil.
Graphite = carbon = combustible.
Your wish will thus be bound to the energies of the Bay and carried into the cosmos to be brought to fruition.

Another way to use Bay leaves is to scatter leaves over the mattress of your bed before putting on the sheets. Bay essential oil may also be used in this spell, adding drops to the mattress, pillows and sheets. Sleeping in a bed made up this way not only draws your wishes to you, but also enhances sound sleep and sweet dreams.
