First of all, and I don't know if any of our members who live in the USA were in the path of Gustov, but if so, I hope all are doing ok and for those, if any, that in the path, I hope all will return to normal for you soon. Hurricane Hannah, they think, is heading straight for the Carolinas, and I live in NC. I saw on the morning news this morning, and arrow showing it coming right over the area where I live. I don't know if was was an arrow just showing the generalized path of this thing just showing NC would be hit, or if the eye of that thing will come this far inland..........Hugo did back in 1989, the eye came right over us, and it wasn't pleasant to say the least. We were without power for 9 days and some areas out toward Lake Norman were out for 2-3 weeks. I know I haven't been around much lately, there's been alot of bad luck hit my son-in-law's family recently and my granddaughter has spent alot of time here the past few weeks but if that thing DOES come inland this far, I may be scarcer still for awhile. I usually love living in this area, a couple of hours to the mountians a few more to the coast, but during hurricane season a coastal state can be a little scary. Most hurricanes blow themselves out to only tropical storms or depressions by the time they get here but Hugo was the exception. I only hope Hannah isn't a repeat of that. Anyway, if I go missing a few days when that thing hits, probably this weekend, that will be why. Keep me in your good thoughts |

I've been watching the storms too. Hannah was downgraded to a Tropical Storm this morning, but they expect it to gain strength again. It does appear to be heading right for your area. Hopefully, it will die out before it gets that far inland. We will keep our good thoughts on you and your family. |

Thank you both. Yes, Hannah more than likely won't be as bad as Hugo from what I later heard. I think I'm just a little gun-shy after Hugo. They kept predicting we should be prepared and I thought they were crazy. We're pretty far inland, about 40 miles NW of Charlotte, and I never dreamed we would have that thing come inland this far with as much fury as it did. I imagine the chances of that happening again this soon as remote, but I'm gonna be prepared this time just in case. |

Wow, sorry to hear you're in the path, smart. Yesterday they said South Carolina, so I didn't give it another thought. Here's hoping it dies down way before it gets to you. You're in our thoughts and prayers that you get thru it OK. |

thanks to you all. Kitten, Hugo came in through Charleston, SC and up through NC and when it hit Charlotte, it still had winds of 100 MPH. it then continued on through my town. that's why I get so gun shy about these things. I had heard early in the morning that it could possibly be as bad a storm as Floyd or Hugo and that's why I panicked lol. I now hear it they predict it won't be as bad as originally thought so I feel alot better about it now. All we'll probably get is some rain, which we desperately need here in the Southest so this thing may be a blessing. Fay was, it helped us tremendously although there was some flooding in Charlotte and the surrounding areas. I'm not so worried about it as I was yesterday morning, it seems it won't be as bad as the CBS weather people were predicting earlier. These things are hard for them to predict I know but I kind of wish they wait to put us in a panic until it actually gets just a little closer to us. Most things I take with a grain of salt anyway but I do tend to over react whith these hurricanes |

Thanks, NEEK. Looks like it will stay well east of here, but my oldest daughter and her boyfriend are in Myrtle Beach, SC this week, now I'm hoping it won't hit there. They're staying right on the beach, I told her they are CRAZY not to head back home now, but try telling young people anything . |

My daughter is heading to Disney World on Tuesday, and they are spending the first night in a hotel right on the Gulf Coast. I am praying that the storms let up! |

I'll say an extra prayer for her, Kitten . I worry about those on the Gulf coast, they seem to get most of the big hurricanes. |

Smart, I'm glad to see you made it thru the storms. Did you have much damage in your area? |

We didn't get so much as a drop of rain over Hanna it just got a little windy. It moved so quickly that my daughter, who was in Myrtle Beach when it hit, was out on the deck of the condo they were staying in watching it come in. I haven't heard how much damage was done down there, yet, but she came through it just fine, thank God. I just get panicky over these things and have to keep reminding myself, that Hugo was a freak thing and we'll probably never get one to come in this far inland again with that much force. Sometimes I'm a big baby |
